We should never lockdown again.

We cant live the rest of our lives running from this virus.

We now have tools to beat it, its time we turned the tables.
Exactly.

When you have vaccines with the efficacy levels that we have, if someone dies despite that then covid is not really the issue.

This has really messed up the younger generations in a way that we won't be able to quantity for some time.

We are in the early days with these vaccines. They are first generation. I really wouldn't be putting as much faith in them being as effective as you suggest.

The vaccine story was the story for the bleak winer months. They will help, but the hyping up of them was, in a lot of regards, just us all being chummied along at a time of incessant bad news.

The words of the chief medical officer, SAGE and Independent SAGE all recognise that the really heavy lifting has to be done via the continued use of social distancing, masks and especially a tough as teak track and test system.
Is that the same CMO that was telling us masks dont work & will make it worse and herd immunity was the only way out , this time last year ?

Last summer deaths were at the level they are currently and didn’t spike hard till it hit autumn/winter. This coming week will be the 4th since the first step of the roadmap, the schools reopening, we haven’t seen any significant rises in deaths from that but an increase in testing numbers.

Tomorrow sees the rule of 6 come back into place, coinciding with many schools beginning the Easter break with parts of the country set for warm weather but very little in the way of places to visit for an outdoors meet up. As long as things stay low for them two weeks, the next step will be non essential retail reopening on the 12th April, that will be the big test
There's a rise in schoolkids testing positive.

As Independent SAGE state: it may be low now but the new variants can get out of hand a lot more quickly and are difficult to control. If we see an opening up of the economy in the coming weeks and months, they will run riot. No ifs, buts or maybes.

Meanwhile in France.

AZ is as effective against serious illness and death.
That is good enough for a vaccine.
The variants will keep on breaking through. That is the reality.

The vaccines are not the answer. Behavioral change is the answer. Either we start living our lives as they do in south east Asia or we'll see mega death each winter.

That is the bottom line.

The latest results from a random swab testing survey by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that coronavirus infection levels among children aged 11 to 16 have risen slightly in England, with 0.43 per cent of secondary school age children testing positive in the week ending 20 March compared to 0.31 per cent the previous week.

LOCK IT DOWN, 0.12% IS HARD TO COPE WITH

It's the velocity from week to week. The school easter break will only delay the acceleration in school infections.

I dont know why you and others are sceptical of me when I say the cases are going to spike again...the Chief Medical Officer and the top Tories all concede it will quickly surge again over the summer.

Have you ever been to South East Asia?

I didn't see much social distancing on my trips out there.

Cos unlike you I dont listen to "the top Tories" and Whitty hasn't got a jar.
