I absolutely hate it myself don't get me wrong. Easily been the worst 12 months of my life but I just don't see it changing.

Seeing some of the recent comments by Johnson and the scientists is giving me real doubts of any normality returning.

I wish they would just announce international travel ban for the rest of the year to shut people up to be honest

Yeah I just want to know in advance if my holiday is going to need to be rearranged again for next year or not.

They dont realise people have to prepare for these things and cant just be told a week before "sorry m8 you cant go"

Thankfully, it looks like the Tory's might actually be learning, albeit at a snail's pace, as these border/holiday restrictions will help.

The vaccinations are definitely working despite social media's best attempts to depress the hell out of everyone.

There is a safe place on here that makes good reading even if you do not feel like sharing.

We are still 2 months away from being able to sit in a restaurant or a pub. The restrictions are increasing year on year.

This current lockdown is a 5 month lockdown. My prediction is for next winters lockdown to be 6 or 7 months in length.

The travel stuff is a bit of a downer.

I'm not really planning anywhere until later in the year at least - want to get out to Spain to do some cycling.

But I've seen different reports - some saying June, some saying October.

Because we've had 125k deaths because they were so slow last year and last winter.

They're trying to do the legwork now so that there doesn't have to be lockdowns next winter or ever again.

Thanks mate, being told to “stay U.K. and stay safe” and throw my holidays abroad away isn’t helping, I’d rather save my money for a 5 star hotel in Oslo, rather than eat candy floss and drink warm cider in Blackpool. That is not living, it’s depressing yourself, yet all of a sudden it’s the new “cool” thing to do is this holidaying at home rubbish, or a “staycation”.

Social Media is the devil, not only did it get me in trouble at work, when it was just a joke which everyone found funny, apart from the Narc who reported me, it also spreads nasty misinformation and that isn’t good for mental health.

I so hope things will get better again and back to how they used to be, it will be one huge celebration if and when it happens .

Aye, we could all do with a holiday after this. For me, I cannot help but feel that given what we have been through the only sensible approach is to get our country/people sorted first and back to something like normal. Once achieved then consider wider steps such as international travel but only when proven, rigorous measures are in place to ensure that we do not end up importing a new variant and face more difficulty. There are plenty of lovely places to cycle here, plenty of great places to discover and enjoy.

If controlling who comes in and out of the country means that we can have a proper reopening this summer where we can actually do the things we want, then we should do it and the 2 week mandatory quarantine should be enforced for anyone wanting to go abroad.

I'd love a holiday but I'm so fed up with all this and just want to be able to do normal things again

Yeah I'm fully on board with that.

Main thing for me is that those gigs I've got booked in mid-July are, as of right now, still on.

Issue is... it's an Aussie band

So I've got everything crossed they can get over and it all times perfectly.

It's literally the only two things I've got booked (and had them booked for like 18 months now ffs)

In fairness most people booked because the deposits are about £50. Not exactly a huge risk for most people. Even if you lost the £50 its not the end of the world.
