The real answer is to stop the type of vaccine nationalism you and people like you spout and get the whole globe vaccinated.

This is pretty important given the poor international spread of vaccination.

It was discussed recently with the UN, IFRC and WHO that because of how poorly the spread of vaccination has happened, and given the rate of mutation, it may always be endemic in different parts of the world.

There may be localised, national herd immunity through vaccine (not a given) but different strains will continue to pop up until there is much broader international vaccination.

The case rate is insignificant compared to the testing we are doing. If the EU did anything like our number of tests their already horrendous numbers would go through the roof. This is not good. I would seal the borders now......

Now if you ever read what I type, you will see very early on that what I wanted to see was for people to concentrate on manufacturing and roll it out around the globe. I am not into vaccine nationalism, I am proud of the efforts of the U.K., its scientists, its manufacturers and its NHS, but I am a practical person who knows how to set up and operate manufacturing units, and it was pretty clear to me that what we now see would happen unless worldwide manufacturing is rolled out. That’s why I love the AZ vaccine and will defend it and AZ itself because they and Oxford are they only ones on this planet willing to do it at cost. You should be proud of your country and scathing at the protectionism and profiteering of the EU. So do not lecture me.....

If we have both jabs, Iceland will allow visitors no matter their location. I assume the border testing will remain but won’t be strict as before. It’s also going to be a long time until we see any vaccination passport get announced anyway.

I don’t really care much for the Brexit battles in a pandemic. Should just be doing all we can to get all countries out of this faster.
