I’ve just been looking at the stats for mainland Europe, they are not good. Generally the number of cases are all going up, Germany have twice the weekly cases of the U.K. , France and Italy, again on an upward trend have four times our weekly numbers each...I would be right pissed off to be living over there and having the government playing silly buggers with the AZ vaccine, but then again their populations have been ‘prepared’ so may not know any better......
I have been shocked by how badly this has been handled in Europe. At the rate they are vaccinating with the U.K. variant becoming dominant they are going to get smashed by the 3rd wave which did not have to happen. I would be fuming if I was in Italy right now. Starting to look like the U.K. and the US will be Back to BAU by early summer

AZ definitely have questions to answer but it is mad how it has been handled too - in certain countries.

Ireland seem to be doing well, Germany and France have at least stepped up their vaccination rates but have had uptake issues which didn't need to happen.

Anyway, still a long way to go in the UK, by no means out of the woods yet.

Yep....the thing is though that if the U.K. was still in the EU, we would have been in exactly the same boat as them and would be having it explained that ‘it’s not our fault, the Americans won’t give us any vaccine, we are taking the manufacturers to court’ etc etc. Being out of it and doing even better than the USA really shows the EU and its bureaucracy up for what it is.......

What a kick in the balls it would be for it to fall apart now. I am certainly not counting my chickens but I occasionally allow myself to think of the possibility of simple pleasures like watching the Euro’s this summer in the local pub

Not sure. They're into another lockdown in the coming weeks, though in regions, with the entire country going into lockdown over Easter (which makes sense I suppose).

Yeah mate i was reading they were going into lockdown again, I thought they already were so I'm assuming they were up and running and then cases have risen again

Are the likes of Italy having another new wave or is this their 3rd wave where we've already had our 3rd?

Booking a foreign holiday this year is pure FOLLY.

For example Portugal came off the red list but we still aren't allowed to travel there.

If you’re eager to at least go somewhere, then put your time money and efforts into booking a “staycation”* before the costs get too much to afford.

For me I’m not desperate to get away and a holiday at home in my opinion is a waste of money, as it’s just staying in your own country and freezing your bollockx off and eating the same food you would if you stayed at home. I personally can wait it out and save my money up for Iceland, in a five star hotel by the time we are allowed there as a “Third country”.

* This actually means staying at home and using that home as a base while visiting local attractions like a tourist.
