Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Of course. Its why they ask you to report any side effects to them, other than the 16 they warn you about, so they can take a look.

Like, if similar vax's had led to an upswing in blood clots, fine. They would know that, and warn/monitor. Probably tell you not to have one at all, like those folk who are allergic to eggs and nuts.

Got to trust the experts.
Yes. And based on what's being claimed at the moment we'll see a future AZ 'could cause' list of side effects to include thrombosis.

But dont tell that to the witchfinders combing threads for heretics.

Bit of a random question. Has anyone who has had covid or whose friends have had it, having any issues with taste/smell months later?

I didn't lose my smell or taste when I had it in November, but the last few weeks, certain smells or foods all have the same taste. Can't quite describe it, metallicy/sulphuric I guess but I can't figure out the trigger. The roast beef tonight tasted like it, but so did the sweet abd salty popcorn last night. Then some smells have it as well. (It's weird to describe as the smells and the tastes, while different senses, are the same when it's this specific one but the beef was definitely taste but the toothpaste was smell).

Going to start a list of things that seems affected by it.

It might. Not a clue me.

But the lab folk are reasonably sure that covid type jabs dont lead to blood clots.

I would go with them myself.

My eldest lad (14 ) caught it late September and still hasn’t got his smell back.

My mate caught it last March and he says everything cooked smells like the smell when you blow a candle out.

Think it’s quite common tbh

I had the burning smell when I had it but my sense of taste and smell is fine 2 months on. I've had other side affects though that I'm still dealing with.

Hospital data:

Sunday data means little usually changes though not a good day for the North West even so. Manages to go back above 1000 in hospital. When falls are more common on Sunday and rises on Mondays Other areas do fall a bit.

UK total:

Patients 7291 - it was 39, 248 at the peak on 18 Jan - (fall of 31, 957 in 55 days) :- lowest since 18 October

Ventilators 1052 - it was 4077 at the peak on 24 Jan - (fall of 3025 in 49 days) : lowest since 1 November

England only:-

ADMISSIONS:-

386 Covid admissions (12 March) - following 449, 494 and 483 days before. 386 is lowest in many weeks.

PATIENTS:-

down 33 in day to 6039 v 7812 last week :- lowest since 19 October.

Peak was 34, 336 on 18 Jan (fall 28, 297 in 55 days)

Ventilators: Down in day 37 to 963 v 1273 last week :-lowest since 9 November

Peak was 3736 on 24 Jan (fall 2773 in 49 days)

Regions:

Patient // Ventilators // change in past 24 hours and v last week

East down 13 to 562 v 756 // down 3 to 91 v 107

London down 9 to 1181 v 1562 // stays at 308 v 393

Midlands down 32 to 1324 v 1766 // down 11 to 210 v 277

NE & Yorks down 10 to 993 v 1248// down 9 to 122 v 176

North West UP 16 to 1002 v 1211// down 6 to 119 v 149

South East UP 9 to 742 v 972 // down 5 to 83 v 129

South West UP 6 to 235 v 297 // down 3 to 30 v 42

All in all not a terrible day though after slower falls last week a few small rises in patients - though the fall in ventilators took England below 1000 which was good to see.

Usually on Monday small rises occur - patients went up by 35 last week.

What we see tomorrow and into next week will be very telling.

My biggest fear with catching Covid tbh - love my food couldn't imagine how boring it would be never to be able to taste or smell anything nice again

I had it a just over a month a go , seems most of the time my sense of smell has gone then it just every so often comes back again for a few minutes then goes again, nose is very itchy at times
as well.

My friend’s sister had it and it was mainly headaches, she had no coughing episodes or smell / taste issues at all. While a friend of mine had it and her taste / smell were in her own words “Totally gone to pot”, while she suffered headaches and a nasty series of coughing episodes. Both have fully recovered, thankfully.

I know its a common symptom with smell/taste, but I didn't have it as a symptom at the time. So to be 3 months on and now experiencing an alteration to smell/taste is a bit odd. Its nothing major, just putting me off certain foods. And it's odd not being able to quite put my finger on what the smell/taste I'm getting is.

It then worries me about ongoing issues as I have a friend who has long covid and it's just awful. 11 months on and she keep getting new symptoms and issues.

Aren't symptoms like these, after 12 weeks, classed as long covid?
