I did a trail marathon in October in the Lakes, thinking I just had a bad chest infection. I wasn’t unable to run up any incline whatsoever and was that dehydrated that I was filling my water bottles from streams along the route.

I ended up an hour and a half past my target finishing time lol

I've heard there's loads of gnats piss in those streams during that time of the year mate so I reckon your immune for about 100 years if you filled your water bottle multiple times

I’ve got a trail ultra in July ( Man v Lakes ) which should be very interesting !
Yeah, I havent even tried any hills yet. Not real hills anyway. If I start training again, then I'll have ti at some point.

As an aside, I have something called a life straw. Filters water as you drink it so can drink from pretty much any water source and don't have to worry about what's in the streams etc. I've used it when I've over estimated my routes in the mountains. Very handy. Good luck for your ultra.

That's been the hardest for me. A year ago I was running 65 miles a week and on course for a huge marathon pb. This year, I just about get round 10k and that's when I even find the motivation to get out. Saying that, I feel lucky, I know people who had it even more mildly than me and are going through hell with long covid.

Wimps, I did 30+ miles today and the car didn’t even break sweat.......

More for the third world.

"Around 17 million people in the EU and UK have now received our vaccine, and the number of cases of blood clots reported in this group is lower than the hundreds of cases that would be expected among the general population," said Ann Taylor, the firm's chief medical officer.

It said that across the EU and United Kingdom there had been 15 events of deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) - a blood clot in a vein - and 22 events of pulmonary embolism - a blood clot that has entered the lungs - reported among those vaccinated.

37 incidents (of something which can and does just happen to people, particularly as they get older) out of 17 million.

"cringe" the nationalism, think the Swiss might have something to about our vaccine mantra, my dad is bigger than your dad mindset. Childish.

I have literally no idea what you are saying here. Vaccine nationalism is ridiculous which I think is part of what you are saying. The sooner people stop playing that game the better for everyone. But what have the Swiss got to do with it?

These countries are risking peoples lives over a 1 in a million chance of getting a blood clot.

I'm not a scientist but out of a 1 in a 100 chance of dying of covid or a 1 in a million chance of getting a blood clod I think I know what I would pick.

Can't understand for the life of me why countries are suspending use of the vaccines. There were always going to be some side effects. There hasn't been a vaccine in history which hasn't led to the odd side effect. Seems like a complete overreaction to me.

The AZ manufacturers have clearly hidden this side effect for fear of compromising roll out and profits. How far they got away with that with scientific and political connivance will be interesting. Their trials were halted a couple of times and I do wonder whether this was the reason and they just pushed on (or were told to push on) regardless.
