Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Just accept that we know practically f.a. about what these vaccines do and dont do, and we'll only know their full impact in the years to come.

The reason we'll all get them now is that they do, by all accounts, reduce the impact of Covid19. That's good enough for now.

The Vax folk do though. Its what they play with, every day.

Before the first results were confirmed to Prof Gilbert at AZ, she was reasonably confident that the work they had done with the proteins would do something, just not sure how well.

She was woken very early one morning with the data hitting her phone, and sure enough, bingo.

AZ tell you to report any side effects you get that are not listed in the leaflet they give you. They are very confident that blood clots are extremely unlikely to be a side effect from a vaccine. Cos they have done hundreds of them.

Hundreds is not enough. Real world mass roll out will unearth issues the trials never could hope to.

And btw, that's a good point about the yellow card scheme: it's there for a reason: because they know their vaccines are likely to effect people in different ways...apparently, though, we must rule out thrombosis. Why? Because..erm...just because.

I mean they have done hundreds of vaccines/boosters for years and years. It isnt a new thing to them.

Its like an engineer inventing a new spark plug. It works when he starts his Audi, so is pretty confident it will work in other cars.

Granted, there will be an element of trial and error, but many medical breakthroughs have happened cos of that. But like I have said for what feels like months, this virus isnt new. Its a new covid one, which they have dealt with for decades.

Our minds must remain open on these vaccines. Face up to any obstacles they throw down. If we dont, it can only aid the anti-vaxxers...an irony lost on those people who reject any questioning of the vaccines and their links to potentially damaging side effects.

The witch-hunt that goes on when a deviation is made from their Pollyanna world view is amazing and appalling.

More importantly, what with us being pretty clueless on all things vaccine development wise, is to trust the folk who do actually know stuff.

Reading my AZ guidance thing, the uncommon side effects, (less than 1% of folk), are feeling dizzy, not eating, tummy ache, and sweating.

There have been 13 blood clot issues, (which is a pretty common complaint) after 24 million have been jabbed in the UK. About half of them have been AZ jabs. That stat rate is meaningless.

The rolling weekly average for cases falls to 5,688, while for deaths it’s now fallen to 145.

What with testing for school kids putting the case numbers up that are published between Tuesdays and Saturdays, the fact there are not any in the totals for Sunday and Monday will hopefully even things out for the rest of the weeks ahead.

The AZ guidance will have been formed from vaccinating thousands of people.

I doubt very much the side effect list will stay as it was after tens of millions have taken the jab.

It's all in flux. The budding Salem witch trialists amongst us would do well to remember that.

5,703 according to the BBC for cases; I just divided the seven day figure on the .gov dashboard. The figure for deaths is the same as I calculated.

Of course. Its why they ask you to report any side effects to them, other than the 16 they warn you about, so they can take a look.

Like, if similar vax's had led to an upswing in blood clots, fine. They would know that, and warn/monitor. Probably tell you not to have one at all, like those folk who are allergic to eggs and nuts.

Got to trust the experts.

AZ are having a bit of a nightmare though. They announced today that deliveries to Czech will be down by 40% over the coming weeks. They've messed up big time.

It appears to be the plant in Belgium giving the problems. In my experience, in different industries obviously, a lot of my role was to keep the rest of the board away from the operations, because when undue pressure is exerted upon operations, by people who are knowledgeable in other fields, invariably mistakes are made when trying to please and usually add additional delays. Exerting pressure upon technical developments and technical manufacture is a touchy-feely skill based on knowledge and experience. Sometimes the powers that be just have to be told, forcefully, to accept the timescales. I feel for the AZ people who have had maximum political pressure placed upon them, by people who really haven’t a clue.....
