Really struggling to see how festivals with 75,000 people are going to go ahead this summer.

Strange to think in May we still won't be able to see family indoors but by July everything is going to be normal.

They might as well start at some point.

Again, the majority of the country is going to have at least one jab well before Leeds/Reading and by the time they come around, then there'll be even more fully vaccinated (including all of the clinically vulnerable, who will be done fully by May).

Just have to see how the first few phases of opening up go before worrying about that.

The gradual easing through the summer should mean that it makes it safer for things to come back and stay back.

The data bases are unreal.

Like, cos I am full time carer for Mrs R, I got a letter inviting me for a jab. The same day, Mrs R got a text from her GP, same thing.

Thats 3 huge data bases, two linked between the DSS and NHS Trusts, so a National operation, and the GP networks, all jumping to attention at the same time, all doing the same thing, for 60 million people.

I was thinking this too.

The owner of the Camp and Furness in town was on the new the other night.

He said, that if they implemented the procedures that the government are talking about, lateral flow tests etc, prior to people entering, that the queue to get in would be over a mile long !!!!

They have a capacity of just under 2000.

Surely all that needs checking with the lateral flow tests is that they've tested negative?

It worked at Goodison and Anfield... Admittedly on more than one door... but, it'd just be on your phone, wouldn't it? So just a simple QR scanner would suffice?

That's not gonna be the case for the festivals, mind.

I'm all for it, though. Right now, it gives people something to look forward to and if they want to book it, let them. I say that with the caveat that everything has to go well and that it's over 2 months between June 21st and August bank hol.

I don't think - from what I gather - the testing is going to be in place for much after June 21st. That might change, but i was under the impression that would be for the pilot events only.

I could be wrong, and actually hope I am because I think it's a sensible way to do it for the smaller venues when they can first start up again, and even the gigs that I'm meant to be going to in Leeds and Manchester in July (around 8,000 capacity outdoors).

If they do not go ahead, this could put a lot of promotions companies and traders out of businesses. I think Glastonbury made the right call and just cancel early on.

I can see small festivals being okay but 75000 of mainly 16-25 years olds sounds like a disaster.

It’s the whole thing, the social distancing before hand, the amount of staff required, as well as the testing.

Nightclubs have now been shut since the first lockdown, there’s going to be a lot of fallout from that too.

This’ll be one area that Dave may very well get his wish, as lots of them will sadly remain SHUT DOWN for good.

Festivals won’t be happening like.

Think whoever runs the show at reading and Leeds needs to have a word for announcing it was going ahead.

It won’t and they know it themselves.

Well, as it stands, they can go ahead. There's literally no restriction on it.

If it needs calling off, it'll be called off.
