it is, but there will be instances where that mortality rate is going to be far more than 4% - if it gets into elderly care homes, for example
Yeh but % of overall is the best average isn't it if applying it to a blanket number.

Isn't the mortality rate based on % of overall infected?
The point I was making is applying the mortality rate (almost 4% at the minute) to 80% of the 66m population is extremely high...
Aah... Urgent work call at 1700 to discuss 2 week shutdown and salary arrangements.
Balls.
ok, yes, with what was presented in front of them, remiss of them to dismiss what was "in plain sight" cant argue with you and the air of "well we know better" has now been proven to be misguided and ultimately dangerous, I am sure any judgement will be down the line.Even as the alarming data was coming in from Italy, which was an open society and facing up to the virus with a laissez faire approach early on, Johnson was still hiding behind the advice of his stooges at SAGE and allowing the moronic herd immunity policy and advising large scale events to continue. It's not the case that he's being criticised for not getting on top of a virus like this from the off; what's being levelled at him is that he remained wedded to a disastrously flawed plan even as the folly of it was being underlined day after precious day that went by.
For that reason I cant see how anyone can think of backing Johnson to do the right thing...which, of course, is a co-ordinated international effort...a philosophy he is completely alien to, along with Trump. We need shut of this govermnnet as it stands and a proper government of national unity in its place. That's the only way of fighting wars.

There's some bad ones out there too, a player shouldn't have to do that, the owners of NBA teams have more money than any players, multi billionaire standing back while one of his multi millionaire employees pays other employees. The owner should hang his head in shame. One of the basketball players for my NBA team is covering all the staff from the arena that won't get paid whilst the league is suspended. Some good 'ens out there.

Anyone got a Death Star?
Chamberlain was relieved of office 9 months into WWII, the Tory Government fell and a Coalition Government was formed with Churchill at its head. If that event hadn't have happened it would have been suicide.ok, yes, with what was presented in front of them, remiss of them to dismiss what was "in plain sight" cant argue with you and the air of "well we know better" has now been proven to be misguided and ultimately dangerous, I am sure any judgement will be down the line.
Im pretty sure you are not advocating the removal of a Government mid crisis, this would be suicidal but perhaps as I heard discussed the other day, a more "local" level approach could perhaps be beneficial at this point? In that local authorities take over the Crisis Management on a regional basis with Govt oversight on critical decision making, this may be beneficial but also may lead to the chaos as seen in the Dark Winter exercise, in that, what became apparent in the reports following that event was the lack of co-ordination and communication between govt departments, in fact to the point where it was in-fighting with catastrophic consequences. The reports and documents make very interesting reading and was based around a Smallpox outbreak.
