Well, that`s Scotland well and truly back onto the MURDERERS list.

Talking of real murderers...Germany and France have done untold damage to their populations by undermining the AZ vaccine. It’s been reported today that Germany has 1.5 million AZ vaccines but only 150K have been taken up, and that in France, where their glorious Napoleon impersonator told the world that it was crap, the take up is worse...

meanwhile....

Have you got a graph with fully vaccinated in the population?

Thought not.

Data for the two jabs combined showed that among people over the age of 80 - who are at high risk of severe disease - the reduction in risk of hospital admission was 81% four weeks after the first dose.
Did the data say whether it was readmission to hospital due to Covid after the vaccine or just back in hospital for any reason? The over 80s are obviously at high risk from a lot of things and regularly go in to hospital.

Wouldn't be concerned at all tbh, I know lots of people who've had the Pfizer and most had either no symptoms or just a very sore arm, sore muscles and achey joints are also common. Most of the people I know are doctors and medics and therefore relatively younger with a stronger immune reaction.

While not a fixed rule so don't depend on it there is something that can be considered a rule of thumb guide.....generally the stronger the immune reaction, which usually means the less aged the patient, the stronger the likelihood of a short term reaction to the vaccination. The older patient's immune systems aren't usually as responsive or reactive and it can take longer for their bodies to respond.

Important to note that although you'll have some protection straight after the first jab it builds in the following weeks. You reach a reasonable level of immunity after 21 to 22 days and its likely to be maintained at strong levels afterwards. You can still get infected as immunity is not total but partial so carry on with precautions.
I’m getting it a few months ahead of expected as I care for an older disabled family member. It is a great relief to be honest as I’m nervous going into them but nothing else I can do.

"The vaccines are reducing the pandemic to nothing more than an every day bug"...that's commonsense to you is it?
Yes, that is definitely common sense to me. We're not there yet obviously but the vaccine will get us there. That's exactly what vaccines do.
I'd put the flu in the category of 'nothing more than an every day bug' because we have a well established vaccine for it. Obviously the Flu has had a considerable head start on Covid but we'll get there in time.

hahaha.....Dave, it shows individual vaccinations per 100 people, i.e. the number of vaccinations given. It’s a very simple graph....I honestly do not know what your issue is with the fact that the U.K. is vaccinating at a rate higher than both France and Germany combined, by a long way. Why can’t you just be happy for the people in the U.K. .....

I'm not sure mate, that's just what it says in the article.

They provide some protection, but even with flu we have more than 10000 deaths a year and we can probably expect COVID to be quite a bit more than that.

Preventing new versions of this virus spreading is going to be what keeps us safe, not vaccines. That doesn’t mean lockdowns (since they only come in after it’s spread), but it does mean some social changes for us and government getting its act together in terms of being able to quickly identify new variants (and new viruses too) and containing them.

I think they should ban foreign travel for at least another year. Variants are the biggest risk to curtailing everything and it seems like an unnecessary risk to tell people they can go on holiday. Holidays are a luxury and something we can all go without for the greater good.

It would also encourage people to take breaks away in the country which could really help the hospitality sector get back on its feel.

For me, there is too much risk attached, especially as we’ll be opening up holidays in august which would risk a new variant coming into the country just in time for the winter months.

People die, it's a fact of life and something we just have to accept. Even if we're getting an average of 20k deaths per year from Covid going forward I wouldn't want my life to be drastically changed because of it. I'll take the vaccine and hope I never catch it but something is going to kill me eventually. I'm not the kind of person that lives in fear of everything unlike Davek.

I'm pretty sure the vaccine will keep us safe or at the very least, a lot safer than we are without a vaccine.

Do you think its more likely that they will have agreements with specific countries rather than allowing people to go anywhere?

I think they might make agreements with specific nations such as Spain, Greece.

The problem is the UK stay cation sites are four or five times the price now.
