I wish people would wash their hands more often and more thoroughly.
The amount of shared keyboards, gym equipment, hand rails, tables etc that we all come into contact with everyday offers no surprise about the spread of viruses.
Just using the London Underground kicks my OCD right off.
Proper minging that place.

Death rate was reported on the BBC this morning at 2 per 1000 with most fatalities having an underlying medical condition...if that's the truth.

At the same time it builds our immunity massively. I never wash my hands (other than after dump/slash) and my keyboard and phone are absolutely minging. I am NEVER ill not even every few years.

A good story about midwives in the 50 telling new mums to never wash below their elbows so as to expose their little ones to bacteria etc.

I know it is different when we have out breaks like this but on a day to day basis, those people who use hand sanitiser and wipes etc are doing more harm than good

Agree with most of that. But the amount of people who don't wash after the bathroom in the pub is over %50 I'd estimate.

Exposing young children to bacteria is good. Not washing your hands as an adult (especially before you eat) is bad.

Jews were thought of as immune to the black Plague when everyone was dying in Europe. One of the reasons why they didn't get the desease was because they simply washed their hands before they ate.

OK, on a plague level that makes sense but on a day to day basis, I am not too sure. What do you suppose is on my hands for instance?I am eating in about 25 minutes and will not wash my hands before hand.

Thing is, the most likely place you will pick up any germs from a bog is the flush.
Yeh, you should always put the lid down to flush as particles of water ever is in there is dispersed by the flushing water into the air.

I meant the flush lever or button. Think about it.

Even the most poorly beri beri sufferer with chronic squits is unlikely to wash their hands before they flush the bog.

The sixteenth century's version of BBC uber-melt Lawro - Nostradamus was a pioneer in simple hygiene and cleanliness in combating the plague - when most quacks were bloodletting and prescribing mercury potions.
After all cleanliness is second only to godliness.
