Whats mad is folk seem more pessimistic now we have vaccines than they did back in last spring when we were snookered with no end in sight.

Bonkers come on lads have faith in science - AZ have already said a booster vaccine is in the works for the SA strain come Autumn - by then we'll all be sorted for the current dominant variants the vaccine is already well prepped for and the booster will sort out the others.

Dont know how some can manage to get out of bed when they believe life is over and the end is nigh lol

They'll help. They wont stop this crisis. Only intensive testing and quarantining will do that, and behavioural change. Until we have that, we should remain with major restrictions.

Even if 99.99% of people infected by COVID don't die and 99.8% of people aren't even hospitalised following immunisation, you still think lockdowns are the way forward if a handful of people die from it?

Or possibly a better question - are you really that mad?

It's not even about faith, at this point it's evidence led.

Health first, economy second.

You'd think to hear some people talking that before the virus hit education was top notch, mental health was stable and living standards were brilliant. They weren't. This crisis has merely sharpened up inequalities in those areas.

Stay safe; ride out the crisis and pick up from there. No use opening up society and the economy and seeing another 100,000 lives snuffed out just because some people want 'normality'...which was 'kin pony anyway for the vast majority other than the very young and the rich...or because this murderous Tory regime wants you to make more cash for their mates in business.

I'm neither very poor nor very rich but life before wasn't pony.
This can't be used as an opportunity to reset world order.

Its because some of us gave much the same sort of warnings as the first lockdown ended, the government did something else and we have ended up with tens of thousands of people dead and two months of lockdown.

I want the country to go back to normal; going back to normal and staying there requires more than just vaccines.

You can stay in your house - Nobody is stopping you

The rest of us that work and merely exist through this garbage half life we currently have want to return back to normality

And we will.

SK, Taiwan, NZ, Australia, Vietnam - places that, via various means, effectively contained the virus and the result was vastly fewer restrictions on their citizens, far fewer deaths and far less economic damage.

How anyone can come out if this past year and not think containment is the answer here baffles me.

That's not normal though.

I repeat.......

I can’t go to the pub.
I can’t go to a cafe.
I can’t go to a restaurant.
I can’t visit family or friends.
I can’t go to the gym.
I can’t go and play golf.
I can’t go shopping anywhere outside of Wales.
I can’t go on a foreign holiday.

What else do you want me to NOT DO?

Yes I know, but apparently, capitalism is alive and kicking. Tell me where Dave? Unless you’re now advocating food shops also shut down and we can all starve to death?

Tubey all I’d draw your attention to there in those fantastic success reports is the % of over-60s people who’ve had a second dose.

Are we doing that?

Let's see how the data plays out.

I want to be led by data, not ideology. All data currently suggesting Pfizer vaccine successful in Israel, and preliminary data suggests Pfizer/AZ vaccine successful in the UK and we'll know more inside the next week or so.

If the vaccine stops people being hospitalised and/or dying, it's done its job. Whether that's after 1/2 doses, we'll see.

You must be well off. Many people couldn't afford to do any of those things even before covid.

Thanks! Not yet got the vaccine although more and more of our friends have so it is working its way through the population.

We’re low risk (healthy, able to work from home, can order online groceries etc) and not going too stir crazy so will probably hold back a bit before we get it.

Fingers crossed shortly mate, i was looking at the US roll out figures earlier, they are doing as well as anyone, with J&J and Nova shortly you can see the pace really ramp up.
