May seem like a stupid question but when they say the Oxford vaccine offers little protection against mild disease what exactly do they mean? I'm reading it as they say it won't stop people feeling rough with it but they won't get extremely ill. Probably wrong though!

That's my understanding of it also.

Perhaps those doctors should focus on the task at hand and worry about all that stuff at a later date.

Imagine being the kind of scum who are more interested in pointing fingers and blaming people instead of actually being useful

Being useful does consist of raising the alarm before more bad stuff happens, though.

If the warnings about the inadequacy of what the Government wanted to do with Track and Trace had been heeded and acted upon in May, for example, we’d probably have just had thousands of fewer deaths and quite possibly not needed a second lockdown.

Unfortunately, whether she is right or wrong, she seems to be trying to speak for the whole of the NHS and really is doing it at the wrong time. This smacks of political opportunism. What next, people who caught Covid in hospital should take the NHS to court. There is a pandemic on, it needs sorting, it does not need lawyers involved. There will be plenty of time afterwards to determine blame towards whatever bodies have been involved...but now is not really a good time.....

Yep, just sick of people who are obsessed with finding people to blame when there are far more important things going on
I understand your frustration but would say that there needs to be some questioning of the things raised. We also do not want to be caught in lockdown cycles for any longer than is necessary. If the gov is ignoring the scientific advice and directly negatively impacting the situation then I for one would rather that this be open to scrutiny, challenged, and best practice applied - ASAP. It does not feel like that is the case with the current administration.

Thanks Pete, I was just trying to articulate specifically what boiled my blood about that tweet, using the NHS as some kind of PR-esq attention-grabbing leverage wound me right up.
