What planet is this educated fool living on?

Prof Andrew Hayward - a member of the UK government's Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) - says that, once the most vulnerable in society have been vaccinated, a return to normality is within reach.

He tells BBC Radio 4's Today Programme: "Once the most vulnerable people, particularly those over 50 and those with chronic illnesses, are vaccinated then yes I think we can see a significant return to normality.

"That, in addition to the fact coronavirus is a seasonal disease, I think will make a big difference and allow us to open up.

"I think what we'll see is a phased opening up as the vaccination levels increase, and then we will be more or less back to normal for the summer, I would imagine."

That is utter bollocks. No wonder we're snookered when we have a corrupt and murderous political class being informed by arseholes like this.

Do you need me to tell you who posted this? Or can you work it out for yourself?

If that's davek, you need to learn how GOT works a bit better mate!

Said before, Boris will not be able to resist the symbolism of Easter for the big announcement. Early April announcement of reopening the country on May 1st with some continued restrictions on large crowds and indoor events (gigs/theatre).

If he's planning the roadmap for Feb 22.

I have a funny feeling, that he'll try and be the Easter hero, and give people a bank holiday etc... And end lockdown on 1 April. That's just my opinion, thats when most vulnerable (and over 50) will have had first vaccine too.

Agree, for example why would you social distance if you and the person you are meeting have both had the vaccine?

Just doesn't make sense. Vaccines should mitigate the risk massively. If the results are similar to Israel here there would be no reason for social distancing or masks to be needed.

Because you can still transmit the virus to others.

Latest data suggests transmission is reduced by 66% but they're still researching it.

Nothing he says is actually wrong.

You not taken your meds today? lol

Two are different types of vaccine. I wonder how they backtrack on that as a few weeks ago they were saying if you had one you need to get the second same vaccine?

Whitty, Hayward etc: the prostration of some of the scientific community to political objectives is a sad feature of this crisis. That's just encouraging a summer splurge lacking in all discipline and then storing up mass fatalities for the next winter.

They're researching the efficacy of mixing 2 different vaccines over multiple spacings as it will be of huge benefit for the rest of the world if it works due to possible supply issues and possibly due to increased efficacy and yet you're trying to make out it's a negative.

Total joke but carry on.

If this government saved the world you'd complain they spent too much money doing it. lol

I do often wonder if this is all part of the biggest wind up going.

I just think when folk post something moderately positive it’s out of order that it gets shot down straight away because it’s not negative misery porn. Even worse is when the positivity comes from a member of SAGE, who have been infamously cautious and critical of government policy, and it still gets refuted for “reasons”.

Out of interest, if someone has been vaccinated, why would they not be able to travel?
Double dose vaccination will surely have to be a prerequisite for boarding a plane to anywhere. I’m not sure it is at present, just a negative test result seems to be the requirement, even if a country is still accepting flights that is.

What’s been baffling me is airlines like Easyjet are still flying to Tenerife from Manchester (or they were until last week), I thought Spain was ‘closed’?

I have got the virus this morning , have been sticking to the rules basically work, home, shop , 99% of the time in work I am on my own. Havnt been to see my kids and family
Only time I have met others is three people that are housebound due to illnesses , I have been keeping an eye on them, shopping ect.
Been getting a test a week.
One of the people of the people I was looking in on had the jab the other week and wasnt looking well so I told him to ring the doctors, he said it will be just the vaccine .
Anyway this morning, I told him to get a test as I had been tested positive , he has it now the doctor is saying he must have had it before the jab, (he was a bit under the weather), looks likes that's were I got it from other two are ok , I hadn't seen one for about a week ,other one has had both jabs.
Just shows you cant be to careful, but the one that has had the 2 jabs has thankfully got no illness.

Sorry to hear that, you're really unlucky. :(

Does sound like it's really easy to catch if you're in contact with someone, even with precautions.

No, cloth-ears, THEY were implying it was undesirable to mix vaccines just a few weeks ago. Now they change their tune.

You're ridiculous.

If you are both vaccinated the likelihood of transmission is low and the impact of any tranmission is extremely minimal.

Until the first results came in recently it was an unknown.

I think the 66% still needs to be verified by other studies but vaccinated people will still need to be careful for a period of time until the transmission rates are better understood.

Sorry to hear that mate. I hope you're non-symptomatic or at least wont get too ill with it.
