Eh? What is your point? How is this relevant to covid 19?

There's been some posters in here saying we should start shifting to the southeastern Asian way of doing things because of their relative success with COVID (even though Thailand is still in lockdown as far as I'm aware).

Can definitely take heed of the track and trace systems, but I reckon the cultural and political stuff can stay where it is, tbh.

Not a chance will all be tied up with non disclosure agreements whatever the legal speak is. Also, the careful eye on revenue streams for future endeavours cannot be jepordised, the greater good and all that.

Do have some experiences with that in drug prohibition, where some charities will have the official opinion XYZ illicit drug should remain illegal in private they will have more liberal views, purely because a security manufacture firm specialties in drug detection and law enforcement is their biggest financial contributor...

I think the absence of the Oxford scientists making comment on recent events should be taken as a commentary in and of itself. If they were at all of the mind that enough testing was done on older groups or agredd with the decision to go with a 3 month spacing out of jabs they'd have been trundled centre stage by AZ to make their case for them. The fact we have only AZ corporate heads backing up the claims of this vaccine speaks volumes.

a bit worrying this, for the folk in the US:

Some Americans are struggling to get their required second doses of coronavirus vaccines, with many vulnerable people unable to navigate labyrinthine provider and appointment systems.

Older people in particular are having trouble getting their second jab, Reuters reports, many of whom depend on family or friends to navigate complex sign-up systems and inconvenient locations.

There is regional variation between practices in different states and counties, according to the news agency. It writes:

Houston’s health department on Friday told those seeking a second dose to be patient, saying the volume of calls was creating long wait times at its call centre.
Practices vary. Seminole County in Florida schedules follow-ups during the 15-minute observation period after people get their first shots. New York’s Onondaga County holds off on scheduling second appointments until days before the shot.
After an online system showed no appointments, Stacey Champion secured a second appointment for her 78-year-old friend Dan Pochoda at Cardinal Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona - at 1:51 a.m. on Feb. 9. It took several calls to get even that, Champion said.
“If they had been saving appointments for second doses, would they really need to send people way out to the edges of the city in the middle of the night?” Champion asked.
Meanwhile, in California, people have turning up to University of Southern California hospitals asking for their second dose, saying their original vaccine provider could not confirm an appointment, a senior official at the university said.

As of Friday, nearly 23 million people in the US had had their first vaccine shot, and almost 5 million had the second, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC has said an interval of up to six weeks is acceptable for both the Pfizer Inc/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines.

Shouldn’t happen here as the appointments are booked together in most cases, but it’s worth remembering the next time you read something boasting of how many “vaccinations” have been done.

But we only have Macron and Germany making the claims...both for political and not medical reasons....

You can see the Pfizer vaccine becoming the predominant vaccine in the EU. Merkel knocking heads together.
Germany is having a big vaccine summit today to try and sort something out. Government meeting with leaders of all the big pharma companies. There is speculation among media and politicians that they'll try to find a way to get the big pharma companies to start producing other companies' vaccines.

Oh not so great news... This will be everywhere lots of transient work, internally and externally, community transmission rampent.

Captain hindsight... Hopefully Starmers motion on border control later today gets through.
