It is, but why is anyone surprised? We are led by idiots and there are idiots abroad. Meanwhile the drug company that is 100% responsible for this walks away with the money.
What a mess.
especially as its a stunt; IIRC there are no vaccine deliveries from Eire to NI (for obvious geographical reasons)
and isn’t this supposed to be in place for a couple of months? I’m not an expert but I’d have thought a couple of months would be too short to reroute any exports through NI into UK in any huge numbers.

I dont know for sure but I'd be surprised if there isn't cross border movement. Everything moves across the border, its the norm. Under the protocol, the checks are at ports coming in from mainland GB, not on the border.

There's movement, but not of the vaccines that way. Why would anyone transport vaccines made in Belgium, Holland and Germany to the UK via Dublin?

They tried to go back to normal without a vaccine. They were wrong.

Why will there be mass death every year? Do we not currently have a vaccination programme underway?

The issue is that when you say behaviour needs to change, do you mean in regards to how we function as a society in a global pandemic? Yes I'm sure a majority of people do agree with that. Global pandemics don't exactly happen every year do they? So really are you talking about change in general to a society which you personally would more like to see, irrespective of a pandemic?

I'm very curious to know what an acceptable level of death is from coronavirus or any other virus that you would accept in the years to come? Whitty said just the other week that society will eventually reach a level of death it is prepared to tolerate in order to function as a society where preventing death is not the only purpose of existence. I'm guessing for you that level is zero. But I would argue that a majority of people would say that if our sole priority in society becomes saving/extending lives then we might as well call it existing rather than living as we won't be making the most of our lives. I am prepared to do as much as I can up to the point where it negatively impacts my own life. Everyone will have that line. I'm confident in saying that your line is probably much further along than mine. In a global pandemic, I know my line doesn't matter. But once the vaccine has been rolled out across the country I'm pretty sure people won't be prepared to put their own lives on hold or have them negatively impacted, or accept more state interference in their lives than what has occurred since March 2020.
Very well written, mate.

I think the devious minds in the EU are thinking that the 3.5 million doses due to U.K. would be diverted direct to NI, thereby getting around their ban on export....would be my guess.....

You could sound a little less happy about it. But of course it’s not about the virus anymore is it? You honestly read like your positively salivating at the idea of massive state intervention and enforcement of restrictions on people’s lives for a very long time. Your constant demonisation of Joe public for ages now backs this up.

You still can’t answer the question of what this intervention will be “long term” as you put it and nor will you say what an acceptable level of deaths will be once mass vaccination has a taken place. So I ask again, can you articulate your acceptable level of deaths? If it’s 0, why not just say it?

You say you don’t expect anything from me and yet you asked me how many people I would be willing to sacrifice? So by your logic if I don’t follow the rules you deem fit I am personally responsible for “sacrificing” lives as you put it.

I would bet you a tenner the old normal will be back sooner than you think or want, and the majority will be loving it.
"I demand to know your acceptable level of deaths". lol

Well here's the fundamental difference on this issue between you and me:

I would happily curtail any previous liberties I had that could preserve the lives of others and try and adapt to a different way of living in terms of movement, assembly and consumption.

You would give up your ability to go out have a pint and a pie and get your back sack and crack waxed for a few months this spring before demanding swathes of people are placed in danger again.

probably, though what firm's doses is probably the issue there - I doubt they'll go after the Pfizer one (which really would be a nuclear move) but wouldn't be at all surprised if any EU-produced AZ vaccines get stopped

Which is why they put the block on NI. They cannot stop AZ vaccines only the Pfizer....
