Nice seeing the word ‘down’ in this update.....

Was me Dads birthday today, so took his fave red wine up earlier. (allowed).

They told me they were having a takeaway roast from their usual pub in normal times, as a treat so Mum didnt have to cook, and they could have different meats.

"Thats sound Dad, nice to help them tick over"

"Tick over? They do 140 a day!"

Nice one I thought.

A lot will be weekend reporting but cases are definitely keeping that sustained (albeit slight) drop off that we will start to hopefully see continuing. As the CMOs said, it's at a high base so there can't be any wiggle room just yet but given we won't be lifting these measures any time soon, that shouldn't be an issue.

It's currently 15 days since the peak infections on January 9th, so unfortuantely there's going to be a horrid weak of death figures coming up. I won't be shocked if we hit 2,000+. There'll be tons of headlines and the usual suspects losing their head, but Tuesday through to Thursday this week will be even worse than before.

The 'good' (loosely speaking) news is that infection rates dropped off in the week following that so fingers crossed in 9-10 days' time, the deaths will have started to show that drop off too.

If places like that can operate safely then I really don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to do what they do. If it means that one less business goes bust, and that saves 10 people's jobs, then it's worth it.

Same with people being able to run their coffee shops for t/os and stuff - most do it without anyone having to enter the shops or have physical contact of any kind.

The issue comes with parents etc if they need their kids looking after or if they decide to send them to school but I'd say the general numbers of that happening is quite low.

We have regularly used our local Indian for T/Os since this all started. They aint making much, but they stayed open when they were allowed, so in a small town, I feel its important to do what you can to support them.

Just got to keep hanging in there folks and get through these tough months.
This week's gonna be tough. There's going to be a lot of hysteria (rightly so) and cries about needing stricter measures and longer measures etc, more setbacks, because our death figures are going to be abysmal. Sadly, there'll be tons of people who have died this weekend and it'll all get collated and reported from Tuesday to Thursday. It's going to be grim.

Just got to look at the vaccine/doses numbers for a bit of a light at the end of the tunnel, and also hold out hope that this coming week will be the last of the death rates rising. Based on the infection rates, it should be.
