Too early to call 2021 a write off imo, especially at the rate of the vaccine rollout

This vaccine roll out is a complete hit and hope... they have so little data it’s just a super sized trial.

No one wants to commit to anything because no one has a clue how it’s gonna pan out.

We are all part of a mass clinical trial.

Data from Israel is promising, 25% of the population done and infection numbers and deaths are reducing.

Sorry for the Mail link, but if this is true then HMG have gone barking mad:

Is it worth me turning my AdBlocker off to read the article? It's like a chastity belt that usually stops me reading the dross they post.

tbh, I'm finding it pretty hard atm, feel like my life is being utterly wasted.

I get it, and I'm lucky that I haven't had this (or if I did I didn't know) and my priority is hoping my parents and family don't get it too.

Just a small part of me recently is really fed up. I started a relationship with someone last year which we just ultimately couldn't make work because of the constant lockdowns and restrictions. I'm 26 in two months, got mates who are getting married, my younger sister's having a kid.

Not saying I want to do any of that just yet, but in that sense it's hard enough meeting someone nowadays as it is, never mind in a bloody pandemic. Trying to save up for a house, trying to keep my career going and have had to take a fair step back since this time last year.

There's other things that have only happened because COVID happened which have been a positive - definitely feel fitter than I did this time last year for example - but just feel like it's going to be two years of my life completely wasted. Don't know if that's because I'm single or whatever, but it does get you down a bit, so when you see all this talk of vaccines maybe not working 100% straight away I honestly struggle to care. It shouldn't mean we don't get back to normality because we all only have a very limited amount of time and I think everyone's attitude should be to make the most of it.

I obviously don't want that to be at the expense of other people's lives, but the key is the vaccine - just feels like people keep moving the goalposts.
Completely agree with everything in this. I’m 25 in 3 months and in exactly the same boat as you with regards to everything you mentioned. I think the thing for me is that 99% of people have been making huge sacrifices for the past 10 months, which is inevitably chipping away at peoples mental health to then have the government etc sort of imply that it’s the general public (our own) fault when blunder after blunder have made life so miserable.

Yes but they are following the correct timescales for the booster jabs.
True, what the UK are doing seems a gamble alright. My granny is in a nursing home near Birmingham and got her first dose a few days ago god knows when she'll get the 2nd... in Ireland the minister for health has said today that everyone in the country who wants it will be vaccinated by September.. but we have to expect some kind of restrictions until then.

Life is a bit crap at the min, Come May time it will be like last summer. Some restrictions but as time goes on these will become less and less.

We need to experience bad moments in life to really appreciate the good times.

The thing in all this, is that there seems to be a small percentage of people who don’t want life to go back to the way it was.

They seem to enjoy living like this as, it gives them some warped sense of purpose and self righteousness over other people.

I don’t think it will ever be same again, even if Covid disappears tomorrow and everywhere opens up. The mindset of people has completely changed, the atmosphere generated by people having a good time wherever they are has been zapped from them/us. Sad sad times

so true...

An eyeopening report on COVID testing and data was issued yesterday by the WHO and it basically confirmed in a practice note that PCR tests aren't worth the effort, producing overstatement of positive results, particularly amongst the asymptomatic. The WHO has called for more rigorous testing to be adopted. Needless to say the mass media has yet to make this news; it doesn't fit with its fearmongering agenda.

Expect numbers of new cases to fall significantly when the information notice is adopted; equally, expect government to claim that the subsequent reductions in new cases show the success of the current lockdown.

Which part of the media is fearmongering?

appreciate that mate, didn't want it to come across as whining, i'm plodding on and just hopeful things can get better - it seems there's light at the end of the tunnel.

As I said, think it's just the time of my life. Feel great in a lot of ways and then in other ways quite alone. Never really made plans for my life but feel like I'm getting older quick! Be right.

My nan got the Oxford jab earlier in the week and her 2nd jab is April I believe.

That's good mate.

Long time to wait appreciated, but at least with Oxford jab the evidence is there that it's better to have it over a longer period of time.

Pfizer - anyone getting that should IMO be having the 3-week spacing as that's all they tested for.
