Grim. I'm sure having some protection will have really helped your wife. It's why it's so important that people have it and get it as quickly as possible. Some protection is better than nothing - like you say it could well have been that that helped her (or it's just this thing is totally random with who it gets badly!).

Yes mate, its vitally important because even 50% protection is better than none. My mums a cleaner in a school so I'm desperate for her to be offered it. My sister who works in the care home but is moving to a new job is due to get it on th 5th and my mate who works with covid patients is due to get it this week. In fact my mother in law is getting hers today. Just these few alone is a massive weight lifted because if they're safe, its a step closer to us all being safe.

As soon as I get a chance mate I'm gonna let them inject me as many times as they need to, pump me full of it and let me get back to some kind of normality. Life might not ever be the same or it certainly might take 12/24 months as we have to learn a slightly different way but I'm 100% certain we'll get back to days of full on pile ons in the street end, going to gigs with mates, meals out where we can hug a friend we haven't seen in a while and bbq's in the garden with friends and family and having a proper laugh.

The thing in all this, is that there seems to be a small percentage of people who don’t want life to go back to the way it was.

They seem to enjoy living like this as, it gives them some warped sense of purpose and self righteousness over other people.

I particularly dont like it but infections are not falling and if vaccines don't live up to their promise. Or we struggle to keep up with new variants. We are going to be in deep trouble...

I don’t think it will ever be same again, even if Covid disappears tomorrow and everywhere opens up. The mindset of people has completely changed, the atmosphere generated by people having a good time wherever they are has been zapped from them/us. Sad sad times

Thats why I try to avoid a lot of folk mate. Some of the crap I've seen people spout on fb, mates I've known for 20 years who I wouldn't give the time of day to after all this.

My advice is care for those that matter and ignore the ones that don't ;)

I think the opposite to be honest. If it just disappeared tomorrow i think you'd see celebrations to end all celebrations, with people doing as much socialising this weekend as they'd normally do in a year. A lot of people are like coiled springs at the moment, as soon as they're given the go ahead the masks will be burnt, handwash poured down the drain and they'll spend less than 24 hours in the house over the next month.

No doubt about it, it'll be one messy free for all. The orgy to end all orgies!

Oh done get me wrong some will be like myself but I think a lot will continue to stay away from crowds or packed areas/venues. The longer this goes on the more ‘normal’ it becomes.

I think it’ll be the same too mate.

It’ll be cautious to start with, but once people realise that going to a club or a gig isn’t a potential death sentence anymore, the world will let rip.

Like VE Day, but with lots and lots drugs !

Cases are showing a decline in the last few weeks?

We are testing millions per week (as we should).

It's grim, but i don't know how anybody can look at that top graph and claim cases aren't falling.

Also a simple look at the bottom graph at the start of the pandemic shows how little testing we were managing at the start.
