Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

I’ve read the first few days worth of the thread a few times over the last 12 months.
Its safe to say you’re not the only one !

I was 3 weeks into 6 weeks of daily visits to the BRI Hospital. Was not even a conversation in there.

That started to change 2 weeks later, and when I proved I could retire and could afford to give Nikki full time care/attention, they practically jumped at the chance to get another bed ready.

All with the considerable benefit of hindsight. Didnt give it a moments thought at the time.

Essential throws up too many loopholes though, supermarkets and pharmacies should be the only ones open but you’ve got your B&Ms, Home Bargains, Poundland’s etc that sell what supermarkets sell only cheaper
If our government had the balls at the start to say what is and isn’t essential retail we wouldn’t be having this conversation would we.
Nearly 12 months down the line and were still none the wiser and still have people in @Tramps_mate situation.

Halfords sell bikes for excercise.
No problem with that being open.

No need for a little coffee shop being open really is there ?

They arent are they?

Your Costa one in Nailsea is shut. (I think) The cafe at Sainsburys is deffo shut. Use it for click and collect.

Evidently not according to lids on here.

Our cafe is shut in store, Timpsons in store is shut and so is our Max Spielman photo shop.
All non essential, although if you need a car key cutting that could be essential I’m sure could be argued.

I can only go by what I see mate.

The only shops in our high street are food, the banks, and the post office. The garage is allowed as well, obvs. Oh, chemists also.

Its pretty quiet when I venture out for food/meds, supermarkets are really quiet, stocks are fine, (crab meat was requested the other day ffs! No problem).

Confused what is happening everywhere else.

Johnson failed to lockdown when told; there's all kinds of places still open, so this is nowhere near lockdown still; issues with care homes weren't addressed from last time. How is anyone confused how this holocaust has happened?

I am confused why my town seems to be doing the right thing, but seemingly elsewhere it is different.

I dont even know how it is transmitted now. After all the hands, face space stuff. I dont get how care homes are still getting it, hospitals different, granted.

Soz for being confused like.

I don't know what they can do about that though? Other than say not even key workers' kids can go to school?

The problem is obviously the amount of parents who are classing themselves as 'key workers'. My daughters school had 9 pupils in out of a class of 30 in the first lockdown. They now have 21 this time around. So either lots of parents have got themselves key worker positions in the past 10 months or the criteria has changed.

Should be fraud teams investigating key worker status with fines/property seizures/prison for those who are lying and endangering lives.

Hospital figures - 1166 deaths were announced today, up 297 on yesterday and up 12 on last Wednesday. 1027 deaths were in English hospitals, up 185 on yesterday and up 15 on last week. The 7 day rolling average rises to 897.29

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 1820 deaths were announced today, up 210 on yesterday and up 256 on last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 1217.57

For the 60 day cut off, 1978 deaths were announced today, up 234 on yesterday and up 241 on last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 1309.43

It's spread by people entering care homes to work because they fear they cant survive on 20% of their earning when off, so they take chances on going in when unwell. Once in a care home it can decimate. Itls spread by a large amount of the workforce still at work, which is because the definition of key worker has been allowed to be stretched.

No need for confusion. None.

And that's 23% of deaths

Where are the other 77% coming from?

People asking for the source of the second wave surge...

....it's this 'kin clown, of course....

Not a leader for serious times... The caveat of course is it's serious all the time. And of course his talent is to surround himself in talent as he is the great delegator.
