You have had to repeat your explanation about the spacing of vaccine a few times if what you say is true i totally agree especially the oxford one .On the Pfizer one my dad had that yesterday and im just glad he's got some protection doesn't know when to expect his next dose ,don't know how long it will last just glad he's had it.Get into as many people as possible as quick as they can at least he's got some protection until his next dose .
There’s been multiple articles about it mate - but the same people still refuse to listen.

glad your dad has got his first dose, and either way it’s better for him to have some protection then none at all, like you say!

The AZ thing is something we'll only find out over the next year, but it being simpler to store and transport was always going to make it much easier to deliver.

In terms of doses per 100, the measure there really needs to be whether those doses are effective or not. If we are just giving everyone a dose now for a few weeks protection to get through this period then yes, we are going to do more people but we are always going to end up doing far more than the other countries have to (ie: three or even four doses rather than just the two proscribed two). We should be doing this properly - if we are then great, but I have a lot of doubts.

This could just be yet more statistical fun from the government, in the same way that tests sent in the post were counted as "done" at one stage.
The evidence is there that AZ works better over a longer period (sorry for repeating it but it needs saying).

Still a long way to go but it’s a good start

Are you telling us that the Banana Republic has developed a decent Covid vaccination to overcome the virus developed by the great bunch of lads.......

Well it seems they at least stumbled upon one which is easier to get to a lot of people at a quick rate to get them some form of protection

The Government were slated by some on here for going with the AZ vaccine. Looks like that was a good call ? People were advocating that we should have ordered more from Pfizer, who are now having issues with production.

This ties into your second point around doses. Firstly I’m not sure that the dosing schedule is having that much of an impact on other nations, but if it is then that again points to AZ being a good choice.

Doses per 100...

UK - 5.42
Germany - 1.15
Spain - 1.64
Italy - 1.66
Sweden - 0.79
Belgium - 0.43

There are plenty of other European nations which are densely populated which aren’t close to the numbers of doses the UK has administered. As for having nothing else to do, well that applies to pretty much every western nation.
This will also presumably have some impact, know that here in the US a not insignificant portion of those offered the vaccine in the first round (medical staff/firefighters) refused which will have slowed down the rate as need to seek those who were willing.

Me and her indoors had our Pfizer jab yesterday too. No information about second dose. In the post this morning, we both got a wad of paperwork from the NHS together with a letter telling us to apply for our FIRST injection and how to apply!
