So frustrating, im not a moron, I do not ignore the logistics at all.

But why haven't we got factories producing vaccines with the army, who we pay billions a year to keep, why arent they mobilising the whole thing?

We are at war.

Dithering, horrible floppy-haired nobhead.

I dont know mate.

One thing, maybe one of the few, that we are brilliant at in this country is military logistics, and distribution. Oh, thats 2, but you get the point.

I have no idea about the capacity in a drug company re ramping up production and supply, but I am reasonably confident in their ability to do as much as they can.

That darn coping mechanism again.

Half caught the news before and from what I heard it's the final safety checking of each individual batch that is the biggest hindrance to production. Sounds like a little more expertise, specific tailoring and care is required than a typical production line.

It was described as an entirely new supply chain being created - don't think you can just throw bodies at it.

Wife works in doctors practice in wigan phone ringing non stop people asking why no vaccine .Up to now they've no idea when its coming 5 doctors ready and waiting.
Im sure it will happen soon enough. Hard to be patient though looking at the case numbers at the moment.

Great, great bunch of lads tho.

AIPEI (Taiwan News) — A Chinese vaccine expert is referring to the vaunted Sinopharm vaccine as the "most unsafe vaccine in the world," after it was found to produce 73 side effects.

On Dec. 30 of last year, BBIBP-CorV, an inactivated vaccine produced by China National Biotec Group (CNBG), a subsidiary of China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation (Sinopharm), was officially approved by China's National Medical Products Administration for general use in the communist country. This was the first Wuhan coronavirus vaccine approved by the Chinese government, and the state-run firm claimed that it has an efficacy rate of 79.34 percent based on late-stage trials.

However, Shanghai-based vaccine expert, Tao Lina (陶黎納), recently uploaded a digital version of the vaccine's instruction manual onto his Weibo page, reported Hong Kong's Ming Pao newspaper. He stated that after he read the manual, "I took in a long cold breath, and counted the conditions listed in the 'adverse reactions' column." He found that there were 73 local/systemic adverse reactions associated with the vaccine.

The vaccine expert found that in addition to pain in the injection site and headache, there were severe side effects listed that were "more likely to occur," such as high blood pressure, loss of vision, loss of taste, delayed menstruation, and urinary incontinence.

He wrote that the 73 adverse reactions to the vaccine listed on the manual make it what he describes as the "most unsafe vaccine in the world in one fell swoop."

Tao wrote that no inactivated vaccine has more types of adverse reactions than this product. He also asserted that this number of adverse reactions is "absolutely unprecedented."

He stated that other doctors jokingly described the manual as "one long disclaimer." However, he alleged that as long as the side effects are listed in the manual, recipients are not entitled to compensation if they occur.

He warned that the company will be immune to lawsuits from people seeking compensation for suffering the vaccine's side effects and that the provincial governments will be expected to provide recompense instead. Tao suggested that the provincial governments will then face most of the blame if there are major problems with the vaccine.

His Weibo account was quickly deleted by authorities. His page now states "this content cannot be viewed due to violation of regulations."

Tao, 43, has been working in the Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention (SCDC) since August of 2000 and is responsible for vaccine management. In late December of last year, Beijing Business Today interviewed him on issues related to the COVID-19 vaccine.

TBF, anything out of Hong Kong reporting on China is immediately discounted.

Can someone explain to me what exactly clapping for NHS/Care workers is supposed to achieve? They don’t need applause they need the public to stop being numpties and follow government guidance on mask wearing, social distancing and general hygiene to ease the pressure on hospitals and get death rates down
So middle class hypocrites can claim they're helping in the fight against Covid while ignoring what they actually should be doing.

Yeah mate thanks to that mop headed oaf pulling the rug from under me last minute.

Know any underground barbers in the Liverpool City Region?
I can help you out.

Fully Covid safe as well, I'll rub a bit of Dettol on the pudding bowl beforehand...

Its to make us feel better about giving out a vaccine now that goes against all our training in evidence based practice. oh well, phoooar ( insert random Latin), we are amazing.

Population density:

UK 275 people per sq km = 75,000 covid19 deaths

Vietnam 308 people per sq km = 35 covid19 deaths

Japan 348 people per sq km = 3,540 covid19 deaths

As I said, Dave, the response about the pop density being the main reason for Aus and NZ's success misses the point. You've backed me up, cheers.

Exploding again over there atm.

Nothing like our numbers, but I suspect the door welders will be out soon.

I have a sinking feeling that we'll see a spike in a month or so in NZ, especially with festivals etc going on over there.

They'll deal with it well, I'm very sure. Just would be another of those crappy moments that shows nobody is out of the woods.

I suppose if they don't see a spike, then they can safely know that they've eradicated the virus. Then obviously the task for them is just vaxing a relatively small population. They'll probably have it done in 6-8 weeks once they start.

I suppose it's a bit of both.

While it takes time to check off, surely the logistics can be in place that mean we're ready to move as soon as the vaccines are ready? And move on a massive scale.

But, much like an Everton transfer window, it appears that is not the case. Know what we need for months, but aren't ready to go when what we've been waiting for comes around.

Baffles me with these dreadful numbers is how we haven't seen the vids/pics like we did of Italy/Spain etc, with people lying (dying) on hospital floors.

No conspiracies about a media blackout. If it was happening on scale, we'd have seen it.

Is that just because by the time people are getting into the ICU wards/onto ventilators it's already too late?
