And yet the Govt. can call an election and within a couple of weeks get a voting card out AND in another couple of weeks, get everybody...well 70odd % to turn up at their local school or church hall with various trained officials etc on a given Thursday.

So does locking down everyone to save the lives of people from a virus which has an average age of death of 82.

It seems odd to me that we can fully support a total lockdown for the benefit of a minority, but not accept that instead of giving a second shot in the immediate short term to boost up the efficacy of the vaccine to a select group, we can give more people basic protection.

Also well worth noting it isn’t actually the government that have suggested this, comes with scientific and medical backing-

Pfizer have specifically said that they do not know if doing what the government have said (and it’s absolutely them who are responsible for this, not medics / scientists) will even work though.

It’s not been tested (at least publicly); authority for its use was not given on this basis. To do it to the most vulnerable people is, frankly, appalling.

It’s also really hard to see this ever having been the plan - more likely it’s a panic move over this latest upswing.

I think it’s delaying not cancelling the second dose. Although while I agree with getting a majority a first dose, I would have thought it sensible to get the most at risk group fully sorted out with both doses first.....
