It was actually 1440 out of 11000 in phase 3 trials. I don’t have the numbers for phase 1 and 2.

Overall more data is needed on the over 55’s and that’s why trials are continuing focused on the over 55’s. The results are expected within the next 10 days.

Also note that due to the severe allergic reactions seen with the Pfizer vaccine every person who gets the dose now has to be monitored for 15 minutes following the vaccine.

this has prompted a number of Gp surgery’s to remove themselves from the program as they don’t have the staff to support this. This will only serve to delay the rollout of this particular vaccine.
No such problems seen with the Oxford vaccine.

I think all of us have to bear in mind that development time of all the vaccines was compressed from 3 years to 9 months. That in itself is an unbelievable achievement.

If you’re still not happy to receive the Oxford Vaccine, you could always opt for the Sputnik V vaccine. 92% efficacy, however it will probably be the last thing you ever do.
How many does that amount to?

The incidence is amongst those who get a severe reaction to any vaccine.

That's not going to be enough to make people want to get a vaccine that is pretty much unproven thus far to achieve a high level of efficacy amongst the critical age groups for the vaccines.

lol

Dave on the internet has better data than bio scientists.
It's all there in the public domain.

Your point there would be that people shouldn't read or quote from online sources...something roydo from the internet has done and will continue to do, presumably?

As I said earlier, trials are still continuing on the effects on the over 55 age group. The analysis of the results is due to be released before the end of the year.

So I think it’s a tad presumptuous to label this vaccine unsuitable for over 55’s. However this vaccine will be used alongside the Pfizer vaccine so even if the results show it’s not as effective for over 55’s then the Pfizer vaccine could be used primarily for this age group whilst the Oxford vaccine is used for younger groups.

I dont have to be.

It's simple enough to understand that if you want to make sure a trial for a vaccine that's going to overwhelmingly be targeted at stopping death and illness in older age groups, then there needs to be a greater proportion than 1:20 of the participants to be from those age groups.
I’m not going to be sucked into arguing your nonsense Dave, I’ve learnt my lesson on far more trivial things such as Baines being an Evertonian!

If they show up at my elderly uncle’s door tomorrow with the Oxford vaccine I would be utterly delighted.

Hes amazing.

First of all he started with the 30%.

Then when he got his pants pulled down he started claiming it wasn't tested enough.

Hes an utter busted flush.
