Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Just reading back to the early stages of the thread, there were some people like me who warned about the seriousness of this but were largely accused of hyperbole.

It's pitiful and offensive. 75,000 people killed. Gone. 75,000 families shattered.

Anyone who questions this virus' destruction or existence need to hang their stupid 'kin heads in shame.
It's an utter joke mate, as much as I make an effort to post the figures info daily, it genuinely saddens me having to do it. To then see the sheer amount of 'keyboard warriors' outright laugh it off as nothing really boils my you know what

Believe the numbers all you want, there is a huge difference of dying WITH it and dying OFF it.
I know.

Like with influenza, most people die of complications (pneumonia etc.) rather than the virus being identified as the primary cause.

This is represented on their death certificate with it being identified as contributing factor in the cause of their death - a narrative.

Unsurprisingly, COVID is like this. So if it’s like the flu, as you highlighted, then surely you must accept it is a severe contributing factor, right?

At the start i down played it, remember in March shaking hands with customers having a laugh about it.

No joke now. Have a few family members in the NHS. We have light at the end of the tunnel but we still have to be sensible. Xmas will be different this year, but its just this once. We will have two next year.

You weren't the only one buddy, back in March I was in the first of my three isolation periods and desperate to get to the pub before they were shut.

She has mate.

She has some misgivings and was a little undecided on whether she wanted it, I talked her round, she has to wait for a phone call now.
I'd have thought in certain jobs the employers would make it compulsory. Do NHS front line staff get a choice for instance

I’ve just asked my missus ( nurse ) mate and she says they haven’t been told either way.

Despite all they have seen, quite a few of her colleagues are on the fence about the vaccine.

What she did also say, is that they are gearing up for a third wave in January :(

My daughter is worried about the vaccine and how it may affect pregnancy in the future. Hope to God it doesn’t turn out like thalidomide or any vaccine that’s had problems.
I know thalidomide wasn’t a vaccine as such but you get my drift.
I hadn’t thought about anything like this, she’s not the only youngster concerned either, her friends are too.
What a horrible virus all round

My granda is in a care home as his dementia got very bad. The home phoned on Wednesday very excited as vaccine was here and looking permission for him to get it on Monday. They phone back on Friday, the girl in floods of tears as they've just got an outbreak of coronavirus and my granda was 1 of them. All this time and they never had 1 case and 2 days before they get the vaccine it gets into the home. Terribly sad for everyone.

Hope they manage to get it under control mate and your grandad manages to get through it along with all the residents and staff.
