I don't know, why they dont they just employ large numbers trading standards 'Covid' officials and grant them the power to close places down if they fail inspection?

Austerity's impacts will outlive it | Journal Of Trading Standards :drunk:

Not difficult to remedy that though is it? Hire some more

I reckon employing a few thousand officials would be considerably less economically destructive than this pathetic lockdown 'hokey-cokey' we seem to be in the middle of

Who is going to pay for it, dear navidson dear navidson dear navidson ,

A very good time to be opening up restaurants and gyms and back, sack and crack parlours though.

This country is an utter Banana Republic.

I havnt that much of a problem with the pubs and that. Gyms also, cos evidence is that they aint that bad news.

But this Christmas 6 day, or 4, whatever, free for all does my head in.

And saying that as someone who wont be visiting any pub, cafe, or any other house anyrate.

They cant be divided away from each other though: people allowed into retail/gyms/restaurants then take whatever they have into their extended bubbles.

It's insane.

We should have a government who has the bollocks to simply tell these cry babies "There's a pandemic on; we wont be doing the normal Christmas this year in order to save lives that wll certainly be lost if we open the economy up again now".

That wouldnt bother me nor my family one jot.

If my youngest lad, who is on the autistic spectrum and lives semi independently within the adult social care system, (fantastic btw), gets that Christmas will be different this year, I struggle to see how Janet and John Bellend cant.

edit. Nor why Johnson doesnt do what you suggest.

Folk can buy stuff, maybe not the perfect pressie little Tarquin wants, but its ONE day ffs.

This pandemic has revealed the mettle of this country's population. Certainly the majority will take heed and act responsibly, but we have millions of self centred people who literally dont care about others.

I am not so sure about that, based on my experiences. I think its more that folk are still, after months, a bit bewildered.

Like I have bored the arse off this thread by saying SD/masks etc etc have been impeccably observed in my corner of the UK, and Covid hasnt hardly registered. Now, with no noticeable changes in behaviour, we are worse than Liverpool somehow. Schools/Unis being the only difference, but thats nationwide.

Nearly 700 deaths recorded today and the news is filled with people only caring about Christmas and crying about the pubs being closed.

FFS
Can’t teach stupid mate, my nieces and nephews, being as young as they are, is the only thing keeping me remotely bothered about Christmas this year

I’ve seen the self centred nature of your average consumer close at hand before lockdown in work (with customers rummaging through PJs quicker than we could tidy them) and during this when I’ve been to Asda, Home Bargains and B&M for bits and getting blocked and knocked everywhere by people with loaded trollies and I’m dreading more of the same over the next 2-3 weeks when I go back

"We deserve Christmas".

Nobheads.

Your family all ok I trust.
All good RayRay. The wife has had about 6 tests the last 2 weeks or so, they had to shut down last week cos over half the workforce tested positive, was also a few cases in my daughters place, but thankfully staff only and due to testing was kept a lid on.

Just counting down the weeks till April and a degree of sanity I hope.
