It's not really hard for NYE.

Get some drinks etc in, put on Jools Holland.

Go out at midnight to bring in new year, wave at neighbours.

Go back inside without killing anyone.

Even this is far more effort than I’ve put in for NYE in about 6 years.

I have no desire to furnish the pockets of Tim Martin - and if anything, the current restrictions are playing directly into Wetherspoons hands and that's what i'm getting on

The small/independent pubs that have never been inclined to/had the capacity to produce cooked food are being banned from opening even when they are following guidelines

Why don't they just employ a larger number of trading standards 'Covid' officials and grant them the power to close places down if they fail inspection?

I can`t fathom why they`re seemingly so hell bent on destroying the hospitality industry, when 10% of all the people employed within the UK work within it.

Then there`s the knock effect of suppliers going bust etc, city / town centres being decimated ( Liverpool being a prime example )

Especially when " the science " proves that hospitality industry as a whole is only responsible for a relatively small amount of cases compared to other places.

Andy Burnham & co are already saying they will be challenging it, unless the govt can show the science behind it - which so far they have failed to do and it wouldn`t appear are able to.

TBH I’d rather Burnham kept out of it as they want to give him a kicking. Better for the Liverpool Mayor and numerous Tory MP’s to speak up....
