Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

People on this page of the thread though greeting the idea of opening up and joking about it though.

How strange.

As you know, or may recall, it matters not to me. I/we are in our own lock down till Feb 2021, at least.

But I remember in lock down 1, we had weeks and weeks of a steady "improvement" of stats. Them graphs, and that lad who has annoyingly changed his user name, posting the daily numbers.

This feels like "Only had 4 pints mate? Take it easy driving home eh? Take the back lanes"

Christmas though...how can anyone not want to infect someone else during Yuletide?

It may become another Christmas tradition.

NYE as well.

I dont get it. Like maybe the stats the the clever folk see are looking ok. But to my pea sized brain, it feels like we have busted the back of this wave, and then gone all "end of term" mental.

Maybe the age profile of infections is different, I dunno, but wouldnt half like to hear the actual thinking behind this, other than "Christmas innit". (which everyone secretly hates anyrate).

Im glad to see things opening up myself.

Obviously that makes me a terrible person and everything I leave the house a family member will die but it’s a sacrifice I’am willing to make.

I am glad that other folk can get back to sommet resembling normality. What I struggle with is the lack of evidence that its a good idea, next week.

Like if the scientists reckon its a goer, then fine. But lobbing our stack on the vaccines seems premature. Based on what happened when lock down 1 ended.

I’m pleased for the three million people who’s jobs depend on at least some form of re opening.

I’ve told the missus where my will is, just in case I don’t make it back from the pub next week.

It's all about sales and its all about not wanting to be the government that cancelled Christmas for a nation of utter cry babies.

Seems to me that the best Christmas gift of all is not to infect and potentially kill other people...and most probably "loved ones". But what do I know.

There is something strangely reassuring about a professor/science bloke from Oxford University, in an ill fitting suit and wearing his first tie for decades, saying good things.

Things are open now...what you mean presumably is you want ale houses open again (they wont be, btw) and places that sell expensive food for mugs re-opened...unfortunatley they will be.

Sorry about the name change

Balls to all this 'no one gets the vaccine until its proven its safe'.

We haven't time man - just give it to us and lets hope for the best.

This isn't living its existing - would rather take my chance with the jab and be a free man again than another year of this crushing boredom.
