Insane.

A code error in the NHS Covid-19 app meant users had to be next to a highly infectious patient for five times as long as the NHS had decided was risky before being instructed to self-isolate, the Guardian has learned.

The problem was only discovered last week, when software engineers rewrote how the app decides who needs to isolate and discovered it had been relying on faulty maths since its launch in September.
Wonder how this virus is spreading... Love to see a nice little graph of the faulty math...

Perhaps but all it's doing is 1000s of students living in shared accomodation are going to be spreading back around the country (obviously not everybody, but a lot of people). That's just going to risk making things worse, surely?
Yeah its a tough one but if they're going to close them this would be the best time they shouldn't have opened in the first place. Its only all about money that they're open anyway.
Closing schools would be a much tougher decision in my opinion.

Hospital figures - 135 deaths were announced today, down 53 on yesterday and up 29 on last Monday. 118 deaths were in English hospitals, down 19 on yesterday and up 27 on last week with all occurring in the past 10 days. The 7 day rolling average rises to an even 217

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 136 deaths were announced today, down 26 on yesterday and up 34 on last Monday. The 7 day rolling average rises to an even 265

For the 60 day cut off, 141 deaths were announced today, down 24 on yesterday and up 35 on last Monday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 274.14

Day 1 of pre lockdown in work was fun, queues so far back around the shop that people could have popped into the pubs at the back of our place. Had to spend my 6 hour shift working on second floor folding pyjamas as that area had taken an absolute battering. They’ve had to give out emergency overtime for the next two days as well as it’s going to get much worse and as such I have to start at 9am instead of 12 tomorrow and possibly work till 9pm on Wednesday

That still baffles me.

Unless we have been told a big fat lie, (not that far fetched), where and how are old folk getting infected?
Oh man. If only someone had been banging that drum for weeks..

Care homes are badly run and rely on agency staff who can go from place to place. Most places don’t retain staff as they are paid minimum wage. Staff often have no training and are there cos it’s a job, rather than a vocation.
There’s a low level of education which leads to issues.

This is all carried out against an industry that takes in billions in revenue each year. Most of which goes to dodgy offshore shell companies.

The entire industry is a shitshow. I have nothing but sympathy for the people that rely on it and those within the system that do their best, but the entire industry is so damaging on the whole, which goes hand in hand with the effects of austerity.

What are these loons buying?

It's all ok people. Curry's is staying open for collections! Labelled as non-contact delivery where you just pop the boot open and then they can sneeze-i mean place the goods inside the car. So that's a relief.

What with all these shops still working and places of education open we'll get a grip of the virus by Christmas...

...2021.

The staff will wear face masks and likely be temperature tested before work. Any Covid risk is extremely low.

Food for thought here:
How the virus spreads in different conditions

I agree, the extent of these measures wouldn't have been required had we used the time better to prepare.

However, there are measures of lockdown happening throughout Europe so it seems in some way there was always going to be some form of restrictions around this time. We should have just been better prepared to make sure they were as minimal as possible.
