Let’s completely over dramatise data cherry picking while giving the real bastards a free pass!

Shut Care Homes. Prosecute Operators. Stop COVID.

The best way to look at that data is that the virus is indeed spreading much more in places that have a much bigger gathering of people in an indoor environment.

Which is a given really

As much as I am against their closure, if you are locking down for a month then schools should really have closed as well for the most effective result. A lockdown should be the most dramatic thing you do because that's really what it is to shut down a country.

Just goes back to the fact it's Christmas and the chance of spread over the holidays to people it shouldn't be reaching.

Cannot see how this lockdown is ending in December, deaths will be around 400 a day or more at that point. How are they going to open up? This lockdown will need to be in place until March or April.

Its a bit heavy handed but should the vaccines be made mandatory for anyone above the age of 60/High risk groups? If only 50% of them get the vaccines there will still be a lot of deaths.

well I can only tell you what I’ve had

I’ve not really had a cold - just a banging headache and then severe, severe fatigue

started last Sunday afternoon, but i can’t afford the time off work so I kept working (from home). Eased off Tuesday and Wednesday a bit - so I assumed I was just run down - but then it hit me again hard Thursday, into Friday and seemed to start getting on Saturday.

could easily just be a bug and a combination of being run down, but Jimmy Jeffers’ is describing the exact same symptoms that I had

They're both typical symptoms of Covid although you haven't lost sense of smell, which is a common one, who knows.

Check your oxygen levels if you have an oximeter.

Oh I've had a COVID test mate. Had to get one because of who I live with. Tested negative, which is a relief. Never really thought I had it but was instructed to get a test.

Whatever this bug going round atm is it's like your entire body just aches, mate.

You feel absolutely drained, banging headache and massive pains in the neck, at least for me.

It comes and goes, too. You can feel absolutely fine and then 5 minutes later you want to pass out. It's rough, whatever it is.

But, at least with this one, there's no fever or cough. So I suppose if it is Covid the symptoms might develop later, like your wife said.

@JimmyJeffers if you can't get a COVID test, the best thing to do might be to hold on for a few more days. If your symptoms go, you've probably got this bug/flu. You might be out of it for a day or two but after a run of five/six days it seems to clear up. If you don't get any better or develop other symptoms, then it might be COVID?

Without a test it's just gonna be a massive problem for so many people.

Getting a negative result doesn't mean people havn't got COVID.

False negatives are thought to be in the order of 20% for people infected* so in an ideal world, anyone who was feeling rough enough to get a test would try and isolate for about a week even if the test came back negative - I know that's pretty much what you did by the way, but a negative result test result isn't anywhere near as definitive as what many people think.

*For the avoidance of doubt. This doesn't mean that 20% of all negative results are wrong, it means 20% of infected people will likely get a negative result.

A government scientist has gone on the national broadcaster, said the government will have cost thousands of people their lives because of a policy decision and its the not the leading item in the news headlines.
