You can only blame them on the basis that a national lockdown hasn't happened. You dont seem to support one though?

I blame the government for not having any coherent plan whatsoever and I blame our advisors for not having any solutions other than restrictions and lockdowns.

It was understandable to be in this position in March , April and May but its not good enough heading into November tomorrow.

There's been no clever thinking from anyone.

The government has cut down on the number of devices it has giving to schools by a substantial amount.
And wasn't there some scam whereby some schools had to post a laptop to another school which then forwarded it on again so the government could inflate the amount of schools that had literally received one?

I dont doubt that for a second.

But that doesnt mean that the solution for kids who cant access remote learning isnt a pretty simple one.

What would you recommend that the school's do?

Yup.

There is you are only thinking about Covid patients!
Your not giving a toss about the millions it’s going to affect in a non Covid way like what I mentioned.

The people most vulnerable of all? Yes. That's right. Not just covid19 patients either. There's 2 million on the shielded list.

Well, early in lock down, some schools managed to engage their pupils in online learning pretty easily and quickly. Others didnt.

So ask them?
Schools are now legally obliged to offer a high quality, curriculum led online learning to all children at all times e.g. whole school closure, class closure or individual isolation.

This came into law on 22nd October.

I think it depends on the age group. Under 10’s is a bit of a waste of time if the experience I witnessed with my granddaughter was anything to go by. I would imagine it’s fine for 11-18 year olds and should be a standard part of degree level students education. I said right from the start that infant/junior schools shouldn’t close and that has, I believe, been shown to be correct.....

For secondary pupils online could work. But for primary schools pupils who supervisors this and sits with the kids to help them if parents are working? Genuinely interested in any opinions around this?
