Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

This is the key for me - it's not even being discussed.

Lockdown properly or not at all. Two weeks full on, hard lockdown. It's not hard to understand - it's either worth the hit to the economy or it isn't.

What Wales are doing will have no real impact. A lot will still be open during that 2 week period. Either do it properly or don't do it at all.

I read either on here or elsewhere that the royal icu was small anyway.

If be surprised if the royal don't look to use the new building again for patients over the wintet as they did back in April / may for that additional capacity.

What I can tell you is front line staff are being tested over the next few weeks and the mask policy has stretched to even patients now and all staff even in covid secure areas.

The Royal will have more ICU beds than Aintree and Broadgreen but if its about 60 across the 3 they can't have that many. It said in the Echo they can't use the new building this time round because the works have continued which is leaving them more stretched.

I have a distant relation who is in the Royal at the moment, she's in her 80s and had a fall at home. She caught covid whilst she's been in there, hopefully she'll be alright but apparently about 20% of covid patients in the Royal caught it in there.

It has been for ages mate. I was in Whiston for a biopsy in July and everyone in the hospital had to wear a face covering. As soon as you walk through the door in any hospital, you have to wear a face covering.

All these right wing clowns worrying about people’s mental health...ok lads, I’m sure last week you thought depression doesn’t even exist

Agreed. Mental health is not an excuse to prevent lockdowns anyhow. If they do nothing then you will have a longer lockdown in the end and possibly know people who died from it. Hardly a better scenario for your wellbeing.

So you takes your choice, shorter lockdown now then return relatively back to normal or you stay restricted and a longer full lockdown once you hit the point of no return. No get out of jail for free card here.

We should all be collectively together fighting coronavirus but it just seems like we're now cities fighting the government whilst COVID ravages people in the background.

Odd nation we live in.

Why on earth would anyone align themselves with a government and party that has gone about dismantling the state over the last 10 years thus created the deprivation in which this virus thrives in. Enough is enough.

Indeed, working in mental health myself, finances always rank near the top of stresses... Give people the assurances and financial support to follow these lock downs and look after mental health..

They could give too hoots about it, they are worried about losing money

Not saying you should align with the government merely reminding people the virus has zero political allegiance itself so maybe prioritise that rather than going after a government :)

Even from an economic standpoint, surely we should lockdown early. Better doing it now so that cases drop to a point where we can have something that actually resembles Christmas in a couple of months. Otherwise we'll be doing the same mistake as last time. I.e. Locking down far too late and losing half the summer because of it.
