Fine.

So the businesses shut down , people out of jobs , homes lost, families plunged into poverty , amplify mental health degrading z all fine then as long as we give someone an extra few months to live.

That's what you are offering here.

That's the trade off with all of this. Put all your morality into the discussion but that's the trade off. How many people out of work? How many poor families lost the job that helped them out food on the table?

In fact you actually agree with me, despite the aggressive tone lol

If there is always something there to complicate things in elderly patients well before covid then that would be a natural occurance right? If it's not covid then it's something else but there is always something that compilicates.

Is that a worthy trade off for people's lives?
"If you think about it, maybe Shipman had the right idea after all".

Is letting a virus potentially kill tens of thousands of people, who otherwise would not have died, a worthy course of action because you are mistakenly of the the opinion that the only options are lockdown or let rip?

Err... what?

All I said was not accepting that sick people who catch COVID-19 are more likely to die and their deaths will be marked as such.

Thats it. I was correcting the false narrative you are dangerously believing by saying sick people who die when they catch covid should not be marked as dying of covid.

Not sure I could be arsed weighing into anything else you say because thus far you cannot accept facts and you keep repeating yourself.

So no I am offering nothing.

No, you offered my point an example.

So cheers man, much appreciated

Just a handy reminded for us all about what is outlined as part of the NHS constitution.

No I didn't. This is why debating you is pointless. You are not even sure about your own words. Have a look at what you responded to Jebus and then tell me how my words give you an example.

Trying to be clever when you are not isnt a good look.

I haven't changed what I'm saying like, same as Dave isn't changing what he is saying. It's hardly a big shock.

You have offered an example of how covid can play a part in sick elderly patients. My point had been that we can't shut the country down continually for (partly) that reason.

So if covid acts in the same manner as other viruses do, then it would slightly change some of the perseptive of the death toll.

Compared to it striking down a young healthy person.

So you are ok that the rest of us healthy folk passing it onto the sick and they die as a result?

Heartless.

Other viruses are not certain death for those that are ill. It all depends on their ailment and what that other virus does.

My grandmother was hit with a stomach virus and as she was already having a hard time eating it caused issues. That bug/virus should not have spread and made people sick for no reason.

COVID-19 most certainly will kill anyone with conditions that would be compounded and put the body under further stress.

Alot of those ill use drugs and have ways to stay a live otherwise.

Even if they don't die. Do you really want to see them in hospital, a crowded over populated hospital at that for weeks on end.

It affects more than the ill. When hospitals are already overcrowded at some point they will have to stop accepting patients. Only accepting those that really need surgery and help. Thats not the way we need to live.

What about the staff? Already working much longer days without breaks. You are ok with them being super tired and stressed.

All because some folk don't want to wear masks and distance and accept the world is different.

The people who took it on the chin and got on with it in the early 1900's with the Spanish flu must really love people like you. Full of excuses why we should carry on as normal and feck the sick and old.

Also don't compare yourself to Dave. At least he is consistent with his points. Clear too. You are all over the map and not as smart

You are correct. It's the wrong approach. Just as 'shield the vulnerable' is.

I have constantly questioned perspective and backed it up with actual statistics. If you read my points I have never really strayed away from the same thing like. Protect the venerable and let everyone else get on with it for the sake of the future .

When the represcussions are far worse than the existence of a virus then that is the point where it is all backwards. Homes lost, jobs lost , businesses lost , mental health issues , forcing elderly to go out where they are at risk , all in the name of protecting.

But I guess me offering actual statistics means nothing now. Basing all of my opinion on the data given to us means nothing.

Because none of this is going to change right now. 6 months time we will still be running the same circles , with the same solutions and still protecting. Either we change the approach or we accept millions of lives potentially get negatively affected , industries get negatively affected. After all who cares if a few businesses go under and the jobs don't exist anymore. Who cares we are forcing elderly out of their homes because suggesting we protect them alternatively is deemed comparable to Harold Shipman.

There has to be normality brought back and that comes at a cost. Whether people like it or not.

Untill university's and schools close everything else they do is pi__i ng in the wind.
And they don't want close them because it would cost to much they'd close them tomorrow if it didn't cost.
I'm sure it was on BBC news I saw that educational settings are responsible for 0.5 of the R number, workplaces 0.4 and the figure given for hospitality was marginal.
Workplaces will include hospitals, care homes and other health care facilities.

As you say, pi$$ing in the wind.

Pubs, bars, restaurants and gyms etc. have put in a lot time, effort and money to be as covid safe as possible. There is little evidence of them being responsible for increasing numbers.
Shutting early made it worse as people were all herded out together.

I do think that it is very worrying that the hospitals are filling up very quickly and things that make a marginal difference aren't going to help.
