Is it bollocks. It’s a lot, lot easier to social distance in a restaurant.

No, it's not. They serve alcohol and social distancing is a problem in those settings AND people's voices get louder as a night wears on. Also, it's indoor, it's people in a confined space, it's people seated for hours in the same place, it's an airborn virus.
Yeah , it's being pedantic now to suggest thatThey may well be close, but we've gone from it being all really old people to now a near third being sub 75.
They're ALL a problem. Restaurants included.Nobody is going to convince you otherwise about pubs and restaurants so i'm wasting my breath
Social distancing IS NOT a problem in restaurants - Certainly not in the restaurants i've been in
If you want to get arsey about something - start waving a placard around about closing schools and universities - because that's where the REAL problem is
It's not a lockdown. Restaurants are open, shops are open, public transport is running. The problem isn't the lockdown as such - it's just the knowledge that this wouldn't be happening if it were London. There'd be a national lockdown instead.
That, and after stupidity like the "rule of six" and so on, there's a increasingly obvious that the government and their scientists have, between them, absolutely no clue what they're doing, so people are reluctant to listen as they don't see the point.

And don't wash there hands etc people are so laxHow. Pubs have tables and chairs spread out just like restaurants. People walk in and every now and again go to the toilet, then they leave. Just like in restaurants.....

No I haven't. But Ive been in restaurants and I know what I'm talking about. There is no way you can make a case for them being less of a threat than the other places being forced to shut.Have you been in any restaurants since March?
It’s certainly a lot safer than a pub and a gym.
And don't wash there hands etc people are so lax

All the criteria that Van Tam just stated were reasons pubs and betting offices are getting shut apply to restaurants....which is why they were shut until July.
