The government isn’t overtly banning anything, but they are creating the conditions for events to be cancelled, which is a perfectly grown up and pragmatic thing to do.
If Corbyn were in power, everything would be banned and we’d be told to be in bed by 7:30pm like good little children.
The venue for contracted events can't cancel as they are liable and in breach of contract. They have to have a reason.
The government "advice" isn't strong enough a reason. Emergency support is a pre-requisite for a safety certificate for some venues (like stadiums) but not all.
And perhaps, just perhaps, regarding the bold, you should take your own advice before levelling something as "naive blinkered nonsense" when you have no idea what the person you're speaking professionally does.
