Interesting listen. The stats have always been a bit weird, and the margin of error always seems to have been something that’s been waved away. As an example my mates daughter and her bf both got tested. The bf had it, she didn’t. Now unless COVID doesn’t spread during intimate moments, that seems a bit odd.A very good conversation here about how we need to be very careful about the accuracy of the currently rising reported numbers:

Hancock gives details of new rules
Hancock told MPs that the government would provide £7m of funding to local authorities in Liverpool, Warrington, Hartlepool and Middlesbrough to help them deal with the impact of the new rules.
And he explained what the rules mean.
The government is recommending against all social mixing between people from different households, he said.
And the government would bring in regulations to ban social mixing between people from different households in all settings except outdoor public spaces like parks and outdoor hospitality (ie, pub gardens -the subject of the question that flummoxed the PM on Tuesday).
He said the government was also advising people not to attend sporting events as spectators in the areas affected.
It was advising people to only visit care homes in exceptional circumstances, he said.
And he said there would be guidance against non-essential. But essential travel included going to work, he said.

That's the issue; people will see this as something to just try oppose "nah eff you gov I'll do what I want."
They're not necessarily rules just suggestions to help people.
Nothing will change.
