Ironically no. Because of the experience though, not the risk. Same reason my Dad doesnt have his weekly trip to the pub atm.

I wouldn't send anyone over 60 into a restaurant. At this moment in time it really is a poor bet to get away with it.

It’s funny, me and my missus said exactly the same thing. Went out for dinner a few weeks back but not clamouring to go out again because it’s just not enjoyable. Same with having a beer, can’t be bothered with the faff unfortunately.

Yer lost its appeal ive just been going house partys instead loads of fun to be had there

What if they want to though?

They know the risk, so why dictate to them they can't go somewhere?
If someone wants to throw themselves off the Runcorn bridge should we allow them to?

An extreme example, but the principle is the same. What people want isn't always what's good for them.

These are very different times that we are living through and all manner of notions of how we should live are in the bin for the time being.

In short: it's a pandemic, they're dangerous, act accordingly.

What's the faff? We've been out a few times since things have re-opened (for meals, not drinks), and you give your details at the door and put your face covering on if you go to the loo. Not much else is any different? Same with cafes. The actual act of consuming your food/drink isn't any different?

Ok. So if you support the notion that older people shouldn't go out.

Apply my idea to that.

Tell them to shield at home, too dangerous to go out etc. Everyone else goes back to normal.

What's the difference in that? Businesses get back to normal, people aren't being trapped in their homes for no reason and the ones who need protecting can be protected, with money that is being used to top up jobs out of work instead going to establish care networks for those having to stay at home.

That way the ones who won't die to the virus can get the country back to normal and the ones who are dying to the virus are protected at home.

It's having your cake and eating it Dave so to speak.

So by your logic, my elderly parents ( both in their 80’s ) both of sound mind and intelligent people, should have the right to make their own decisions about who they see and where they go taken away from them for “ their own good “ ???

So by them going out for lunch once a week and my dad having a few drinks in the golf club after he’s finished a game is tantamount to reckless endangerment of both their lives ???

Ffs I’ve heard it all now.

You know if you actually ventured into some of the places you so readily condemn, you’d see that you don’t turn into a pile of ashes the moment you put one foot through the door lol

Just ask me out already x

So now we have the education minister saying students will be allowed to go home, but they might be forced to isolate first.

Why does this government always spend a week or two talking about completely unworkable policies, before they start to use a bit of common sense?
