Policies will facilitate the sort of generational changes in the economy we're talking about, but it'll take time for Britain to disengage from a service sector dominated economy, or at last diversify a bit more. Many parties since the 2008/09 crash have talked up the 'retooling' of the economy but it'll come incrementally.
On a much more gradual basis and in a targeted way. To ignore/disregard the damage that complete lockdown might have on hospitality and tourism just isn't an option, because of the secondary consequences on individuals.

You might save more lives, but you can ruin many others.

Really? So to turn this around, you’ll willingly sacrifice a life so that a sports club is kept open and running?

I think its wishful thinking that we can prevent deaths during a pandemic.

Pandemic = deaths always has done always will.

Obviously we can try our best to limit the number of deaths but the government can not realistically see the ecomomy collapse over this.

Otherwise you may aswell never eat any fatty food as you could die tomorrow of heart disease or drive to work incase some lorry ploughs into you.

OK but what is your POV on full on lockdowns (limited time), maybe we will never need another one (soft or hard) if we have one? European nations never tried it afaik. Economy will be hit but who cares, if it is over, it is over. People would prefer this if it's the quicker solution.
For me a full lockdown depends on deathrates and the health care system either being overwhelmed or projected to be overwhelmed without a full lockdown. I don't really have a clue so I'm willing to go with the scientific consensus, and I've seen little to suggest that its full lockdown or fully open.

It's not.

It might be a fairytale to save every life, but 'saving lives' in a pandemic is a practical and achievable activity.

That’s a fair comment but I’m not prepared to sit tight over the next 6 months or 3 years how ever long it takes to get through this. I know many will think I’m inconsiderate/selfish with my opinions but I don’t care. The death rate is very low, ok cases have risen but isn’t that because we’re testing more people now? We are getting guided by the lowest form of the human race, who are telling us one thing but doing the other. The whole thing doesn’t make any sense of what they’re trying to do is madness. I see two things, we either lockdown totally everything or we open everything. Doing this half hearted cobblers is doing nothing because people are still interacting with each other, so do we have a killer virus or not? Because if we did people would be locked down and wouldn’t even go outside with a mask on regardless of the rules the government set.
The way the media and government are acting you would think people are dropping dead on the streets!
It's not just about people dying, it's about too many people becoming ill enough to require hospital treatment, too many for the health system to cope with.
Also the yet unknown possible long term effects on a population.
Cases must be minimised for these reasons.

Odd that in Bolton, where the 10pm curfew has been introduced, there has been no clear evidence to suggest it's impacted rising cases. It's continued.

I've heard police suggest that social distancing falls apart after 10pm, but nothing evidence based to suggest that it directly contributes to rising cases or if the 10pm will have any significant benefit.
