The stink of fear on here as scores of posters can see their *human rights* - to drink as much ale as they can, eat as much restaurant tat as they like and sweat their bollocks off in gyms while gazing at themelves in mirrors - coming under possible threat of being curtailed.

Isn't this pretty much what they did in Sweden.

Obviously at the time there was a lot of talk about that and their rates shot up but they never shut down their economy.

That being said, they have a smaller population and better healthcare.
No. The Swedes had a terrible policy up and running which saw care homes suffer the worst of their 5,000 plus deaths.

They are libertarians not socialists.

No socialist would look on and not raise the alarm for millions of the elderly and the vulnerable and be fully on board with restrictions / lockdowns.
Nightclubs where everybody dance and touch each other are open but people freak out when you go walk without a mask in the park. (even though not illegal, yet) Media calls for this. Because entering parks is free of charge. Same thing with supermarkets, it's basic needs, you don't spend much. If it circulates lots of money, govt may say feck it with the measures. That should be protested.

I am still scratching my head what folk are protesting about.

Masks? Selfish idiots.
The actual virus? (make it go away) Thick as pig poo.
Its fake news? Thick as thick pig poo.
Restrictions? You are in a square protesting. Think about that, then go to your room and think about what you did.
Should still be locked down? ^^^^^^^^^^

Missed anything?

Their care homes and elderly took the brunt of the virus. However this is also the case in a lot of counties that did in fact implement an official lockdown. Sweden did implement some measures, but it was more of a light touch approach- for example gatherings of over 50 were outright banned, but masks and social distancing were only encouraged rather than enforced. There seems anecdotally to have been greater adherence to these measures over there than here in the UK though.

If they get through the winter months they will have done exceptionally well. Rightly or wrongly they accepted up front that lockdowns were a very drastic and perhaps unsustainable measure to put in place. They also accepted the science that the IFR rate for people under a certain age and in good health is incredibly minuscule. Those factors have dictated their policies and response.

Don't forget all the BLM protests, title celebrations too, etc, Roydo...

In all seriousness, I'm happy to wear a mask on public transport/in a shop or whatever, if it means we can help overcome this thing.

The thing is, it's gonna be here for a long, long time. It's probably here to stay now, in one form or the other, so how long do all these measures go on for? Are we all going to be wearing masks for the rest of our lives? Are we ever gonna get back to going to the game or a gig? Is it ever gonna be normal to go and go to a pub and be able to order at the bar...

It's little things, obviously, but it all adds up. What is the way out of this? There doesn't seem to be one at the minute.

Why are you pretending to be unable to write in proper sentences again please buddy?
