I actually think a 2 week lockdown would possibly be the best idea at this point.

I know, I know, but it takes the edge of, granted its a band-aid, but it would help massively.

The problem is, the governments data is so non existent would two weeks even be long enough?

They probably lift the two week lockdown before they have the up to date data of the days prior to the second lock down.

It could just get extended and extended.

Theres certainly that danger.

But last time we hesitated, we shouldn't make the same mistake this time.

We yet again have countries like Spain to give us an indication of what POSSIBLY might be to come.

Im honestly really against another lockdown for many reasons, so I'm not just saying this to fuel my lockdown hunger or something.

Its either that or we do nothing, which is basically what these local lockdowns are and we roll the dice, I'm not a fan of dice rolling in situations like this.

There also a real danger that a lockdown wont be needed, but 1 choice puts strain on things, the other kills, thousands.

The 38000 figure doesn’t make sense to me.

There isn’t that much of a shortage of tests.

TBF a number that high (though it does seem way too high) might explain why these undefined and so far unexplained testing problems are occurring.

If the government has throttled back supply of the tests to make it seem that the decision to send schools back / reopen workplaces hasn’t led to as massive a spike in infections, then it might also explain why they’ve gone down the testing route they did (as if they’d gone down the traditional route of public health bodies doing the testing it would be impossible to conceal the numbers). It might even explain the quiet resurrection of herd immunity that we’ve seen over the past few weeks.

As someone has said these local lockdowns dont do much do they, no body will stop doing things they want on a local lock down ( unles things are physically shut then obvioisly they will) but who remmebers them house parties in the last actual lockdown for that memorial day thing or what ever it was? People were past caring then and now people are even in worse situations regards money etc...

A local lockdown wont do much for numbers IMO, what do we think? People will literally just meet in houses instead of pubs

Weve got 2 days booked next week in the Lake District, if we go into Local Lockdown I don't really think its fair that we travel all that way and potentially spread something, plus this post is really making think we should cancel.

I’ve stayed all over the place mate over the past few weeks mate and it’s sound.

In the rural areas you actually sometimes forget that Armageddon is upon us.

Daily numbers from Spain are not good at all. New cases still increasing and deaths are now increasing alarmingly too. Another 2-3 fold rise and the emergency services will likely be overwhelmed again.. and while that may sound like a very big increase needed, remember that it has already risen x50 fold from the base.

The exponential nature of growth could have us at this level much sooner than anyone realises.

France seems to be on a similar trajectory, and it wouldn't surprise me if most of Europe followed.

Worrying.
