The German scheme is very different IIRC

It's more about allowing shortened hours/short weeks etc. Employers can cut hours and the government pay a proportion of the hours that haven't been worked?

Please correct me if I'm wrong though!

Not quite apples and apples though, as I believe in Germany, around 5 million people are furloughed, whereas in the UK it's still closer to 10 million.

it's not actually a furlough scheme because it's about allowing short weeks to keep people working. Whereas our scheme stopped people working.

It's not a bad idea going forward all the same. But it's not comparable at all with the job retention scheme we had.
