Last few times I've been shopping I've seen more masks than I have since it all began.

But there are a lot of "Its just the flu" people and they seem to be growing.

Don’t get me wrong, if I go the shop by ours where it’s one in one out sort of thing, most folk have a mask on - distance in queues

But going the Asda or Tesco and that in Huyton or Aintree and your likely to see more people than not flaunting the rules

I went last night and it’s mostly adults abar me mar and dads age - 45-50 and then pensioners who won’t wear masks

Lots of kids in my bracket - early to mid 20s - have masks on. Obviously not all of them do, but hard pressed to find them.

Like I have said before.

20 people dying of a virus is nothing in the bigger picture. As much as you want to run the idea of doom and gloom, OMG 20 people died a day of covid-19.

1000 people die every day on average.

We are currently 15% down right now on our 5 year average , so less people in the country are dying on average (I know the average has been mentioned in here before).

Suggests to me that if, given less people are going out and wearing masks and social distancing and all that. There is something else that isn't killing people as much as it did on average over the past 5 years , hence the lower numbers , to the tune of anywhere up to 150 a day.

But we aren't making a major fuss over that ?
You KNOW the potential this virus has to take lives; and you must know the period we are headed into with Covid19 + seasonal flu will cost thousands of lives.

Please dont minimize what is the greatest health threat for a generation and more.

I see the opposite, well, nearly opposite.

In every supermarket and small shop I have been in, everyone has a mask on, other than babies. Many wear them just walking down the high street.

Young, old, everyone.

And Liverpool is facing some lock down measures; go figure.

You are looking at the figures and dismissing 20 deaths as nothing.

And you know what, in the grand scale of things, it is nothing, but did you see what happened in The Spring when it was allowed to run free?

I just checked, we peaked at 1149 deaths in 1 day.

Yes, masks, social distancing will hopefully stop us reaching these numbers, yes, the NHS is able to treat it better. But we have a useless testing system, that is currently on its arse. But we had the peak in The Spring, if things carry on as they are, we could have a new peak in The Winter.

Im considered doom and gloom and negative and I am, this thing terrifies me, its a disease we know very little about and its killing people, daily.

You say 1000 people die every day, well guess what, most of those same 1000 people are still dying, but now even more people are dying from this.

As you say, we don't make a major fuss over other things, but the Goverment locked the whole country down, its never done that for anything else in my lifetime.

Its not about the numbers now, its about the numbers that will happen if we just keep dismissing this as just another thing to worry about.
Like I have said before , when do you stop that and look at the world for what it is?

1000 less people are dying less on average right now for that 20 a day.

And we know that isn't flu , not preventable diseases as they aren't magic and suddenly stop, they aren't cancer etc.

Something week on week is dropped by 1000 , and it clearly has impacted on the current measures which is designed to keep people from getting sick.

What it is? Haven't a clue , bit of a surprise that stat to be honest. Wish I had the foggiest idea what is suddenly not happening.

But when do you take 2000 cases a day and only 20 deaths and start to have that on a regular basis, when do you accept that as normal given the bigger picture? Back in march and April there was a whole different scenario with cases Vs deaths and we are here because of that. Eventually cases have to be accepted as not having anywhere near an impact as they once did. If things get worse then sure, we need stronger measures. When that significant average drop stops being such a drop because of covid then it's sit up and take notice time.

If we truly knew a break down of deaths per day, there would be far more concerns than covid-19. Blissful ignorance , be scared about covid-19 but if we really knew how many died from this or that every day, people would care about those issues.

Thats the way it should be Ray Ray, until we get this sorted or at least we have enough info to get it under control and out of the pandemic/epidemic levels

Well the seasonal flu won't cost thousands of lives because we have a vaccine that is proven to prevent deaths. So that's far from the truth , and in a society that is encouraged to have protective measures in place, it won't just be covid-19 that will be limited in transmission this winter. Less people will get sick from the flu whilst we actively prevent people from getting sick from covid-19.

Don't kid yourself that this is the greatest health threat for a generation. 78000 die every year from smoking. That's a generational worry , obesity is another.

Got to look at things in perspective one day mate, probably won't be for a while for many but eventually perspective has to kick in. Otherwise we will be living in fear for years , even when the numbers still don't reflect the fear.

You still dont get it do you?

If you have a garden you care about, when a weed appears, you weed it. If you dont, then the weeds will spread, and pretty quick, you will be spending all day weeding.

Until we get a weed killer, thats why we are being asked to do stuff a bit differently.

Pick a cause.

What I'm saying is that if the cases Vs deaths doesn't grow the same way as it did in the beginning then the risk has decreased as a result.

But then using your logic , if we banned smoking tomorrow then generations would benefit from 78000 a year less deaths. If we made everyone eat healthy then the knock on effect there would save thousands of lives.

Yet we dont? We give people the choice to do that and then never really talk about it.

All I'm saying is that when your average deaths are dropping whilst you have preventable measures in place , when your positive Vs hospital cases don't match up anymore then a good run of that means things aren't as bad as they once were.

The virus isn't going away any time soon but at some point you have to draw the line and accept those low numbers as normality much like other things that kill people.
