Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

That idea of giving people covid-free status so they can go to things is honestly one of the most deranged things I've heard this year.

making everything up as they go along, unless I am not seeing the master plan
(no doubt its the rich getting richer and the poor and vulnerable dying)

I think thats what everyone is doing mate. They just have to react to what is happening as best they can. Personally, I prefer that to taking a firm stance from day one, and then ignoring the reality. Brazil for example. Merica till recently.

It seems to be a rehash of the old idea of COVID-immune status (when they believed people would be immune after they'd got it), which did at least have some use as knowing who was immune would mean you could protect the people (eg NHS staff) who weren't.

However this appears to be a policy whose only aim is to reopen everything based on a system for which the technology doesn't exist and where they can blame individuals when they spread this. Its barking mad and a criminal waste of resources.

Fake news.

Fake news.

I did however laugh at you and poke fun at you for fear-mongering about a second wave 'tsunami' crashing into us because of pubs re-opening, which never happened. Not sure why I need to apologise for that.

I have never made fun of somebody simply for being cautious about restrictions being loosened, and I have never said a second wave would not happen. Here is a post I made in July on the subject:

You're just a bare-faced liar.

Just hold your hand up and say that you were wrong to treat people with disdain when they were concerned about a second wave.

For those who think it's not too bad at the moment, which relative to where they were even a month ago, they're not. But the hospitalisations trend in the North-West is now, without doubt, going in the wrong direction.

If people in the area aren't doing the right things, then, as hospitalisations and eventually deaths start to increase, then those people, along with the government, will have to share the blame. People have a choice, fully blame someone else ( the government ) or accept that your individual actions also make a difference. They're your families, it's your choice.

One more time for the hard of learning: that error was made and then I held my hand up to it. And I was prepared to do that VERY early in the March when the facts changed.

It's just what serious people do.

How about the references to the masses as “ pastie eating, lager swilling serfs “ ?

The call for cavalry charges against the masses ?

The call for baton rounds to be used against the masses ?

National Socialism would be a more apt description.

As @Bruce Wayne said a while ago, this thread has not been your finest hour.

No, not 'the masses'. The lumpenproletariat.

And now look where we are after the murdering government encouraged them to eat out to help out etc etc etc. A second wave.

As for any libertarian saying this thread is not my finest hour: my messaging has been, 'keep safe'. Let them examine their own advice...it's got us in a mess again
