Daily new case numbers from europe don't look good at all.

Undoubtedly on the steep upslope of a 2nd major wave now, although at present daily deaths hasn't really increased by much, but there would naturally be some lag in these numbers of a few weeks.

Class size reductions are pathetic. The vast majority of the classes I teach are lab-based in enclosed air-conditioner circulated rooms.

I have chronic bronchitis, which they're aware of, and yet zero mitigations are being made to suport me.

I'd suggest you take a look at the HSE guidance on aircon and COVID, and get your union involved.

Also, you do not need to adjust systems in individual rooms or portable units as these operate on 100% recirculation. You should still however maintain a good supply of fresh air ventilation in the room.

From what you're saying, it sounds like the bit I've bolded is impossible and you'd have a case for being able to say your workplace is unsafe until such time as those labs can be changed to allow adequate refresh of the air.

Looks like it`s those pesky youngsters out enjoying themselves that are doing the damage across the board - waves fist at them.

I`m not sure the term " second wave " is correct, as the first one never went away.

I'd disagree. The number of new cases was very low between May-July while we were in the midst of lockdown and social distancing. Unfortunately the last 8 weeks the cumulative effect of more interactions with other people has seen new cases resurgent.

I have no scientific insight into the disease, but just looking at the relative numbers it seems that survival rate is much higher now - maybe the virus has mutated into less deadly version and/or we know better how to treat patients. Maybe survival rates are better in the summer (higher vitamin D?) and will peak again in late winter.

Who knows, but all I`m seeing by me and by and large everywhere else I`ve been, is teenagers just behaving like normal teenagers do.

Adults generally seem to be still social distancing etc, but the kids don`t seem to be arsed one bit about what`s going on and that`s got to be having an effect.

My missus is a nurse in a big hospital mate and despite the pubs etc being open again for nearly two months now, they`ve only had a handful of virus patients in over the past few weeks and only one that has died this month - who was already very sick prior catching the virus.

So I wouldn`t be going into panic mode just yet.

Also the likes of the Red Echo, the Daily Heil, the Express etc seem to be deliberately whipping up fear for clicks and to sell papers.

My friend is an ICU nurse and she say's they have no COVID patients in her hospital, and that's in Blackburn a COVID hotspot

Why would they want to stop people working from home? I can understand that city centres won't be so busy and retail companies will be hit.. but as far as I can see if there is anything good to come out of all this it's that people who can and want to work from home have been doing so should be allowed to continue to do so.
You have a congestion charge in London to lessen traffic and now there's a way to remove traffic from the roads in all cities and towns and the government are against it.

Take a look at the situation in Spain ( I mention Spain because you started by mentioning cases in Europe as a whole ). The average age of people infected is far less than it was months ago.

From https://english.elpais.com/society/...oronavirus-epidemic-has-changed-in-spain.html

Age. In the new normality, more young people are becoming infected with the coronavirus. The reports that are produced by the Carlos III institute, which include diagnoses from all methods, and not just PCR tests, confirm a significant fall in the average age of new positives. For example, the report issued on April 3 by the research institute showed the average age of those diagnosed as infected as between 50 and 59. However, the latest report, published on August 6, shows an average of 30 to 39 years old. Spanish Health Minister Salvador Illa has recently stated that the average age of new contagions is 40, whereas during the peak of the pandemic it was over 60.

Admittedly, there'll be a degree of statistical bias in that, because, at the peak, there was a limitation on how many tests could be carried out, so the older you were, the more likely you were to be quite ill, so the more likely you were to get tested, but they're not just including PCR tests in that analysis.

There's a fair amount of evidence that younger people are now spreading the disease in Europe. It's not totally conclusive evidence, but it's there.

That Jenny Harries is a tasty little piece for her age like.

Could throw me over her lap and smack my bottom for not wearing a mask anytime she wanted.

Mate....every time there is a photo or mention of a female you have to state whether you'd consider her acceptable for sex.
We get it...you are a creepy perv...bordering on sexist.
