Wouldn't be surprised if we're back in a localised lockdown again soon, outbreaks in local mushroom and meat factories, it was inevitably going to happen imo with the low paid workers who are living in crammed accommodation.

Was reading where these outbreaks are pertaining from in the UK, most definitely likes cool places. Most worryingly many have been in food production, wher standard are high, once October comes round don't fancy our chances keeping it to local lock downs.

Some dude in Bavaria came back from Italy, had a test on the border and it took 3 days for the results to come through after he was told 1 day. In the meantime he went to a birthday party. Then he got the result (positive) and now 120 people are in quarantine lol

I'm finding it difficult to see what point you're trying to make cos you're all over the shop.

  1. You were celebrating the fact that the official number of official Covid deaths was dropped by 5,000, and cited it as proof that the media was previously overhyping the virus and it was nothing to worry about.
  2. I mentioned that the excess deaths recorded in the UK over the same time was 60,000 (it's actually over 65,000 now)
So even going with my original quoted number of 60,000. Even subtracting the 10,000 people who I completely accept could have died from isolation. Even if we take both those statistics as fact, there has still been 50,000 excess deaths in the UK with 41,000 of those officially from Covid.

So my questions to you are:
  • Did these 50,000 excess deaths just happen to coincide with the outbreak of a global pandemic that has seen the excess death of hundreds of thousands everywhere else in the world?
  • Why do you even care about the 10,000 who have apparently died from isolation in the UK when you have already said the other 50,000

?
Wow, who's having a mare now? If you're going to that much effort to argue with my points, don't totally misquote me to get it all wrong.

Some announcements expected today around care homes and restrictions
Targeted protection of the vulnerable is the way to go and let the rest of the population get on with it, the levels of asymptomatic and mild cases are ridiculously high. Country Lockdown is not needed it's causing far more harm than the virus ever could. From people missing early cancer diagnosis to the effects on people's mental health, a study just started in Ireland looking at babies born during Lockdown and the effects on their immune system as in the critical weeks and months of their immune system development, they weren't introduced to the external elements that are essential in building an immune system.
The consequences of what we've done are yet to be seen and I fear that we are going to find that the consequences are going to be horrific far worse than a disease where the vast majority of the population don't even develop symptoms.

Should be fined massively.

If people want to travel across borders then fine, but there really need to be stricter rules around what you can and can’t do when returning.

No unnecessary social gathering until receiving test results would be a start and surely a no brainer.

But what do you care? According to you there'll be no second wave.

You call for the economy to be opened up and then complain that those holidaying should face massive hold ups with tighter quarantine regulation. THAT's what opening up the economy gets you: mass movement across borders.

I do sort of have some sympathy for him though. He was told 24 hours but hadn't heard anything. So maybe he assumed no news is good news. And I don't think he was in a high risk area so might not have even been obliged to have the test in the 1st place.
