It’s not that’s it’s “ok”, it’s to give people an opportunity to return early to avoid losing their jobs as a result of quarantine.

If they pay for their tests then that would be a good solution. The tax payer shouldn't be picking up the bill when these people have chosen to go on a foreign holiday during a pandemic.

This is true to be honest. This 14 day quarantine policy is spectacularly out of line with everything else.

All of these people stuck in France scrabbling around to get home before quarantine hits

Does anybody check that these people are quarantining for 14 days when they get home? Surely people are just going to come back whenever they were scheduled to and then go about their daily lives?
