125 hotels out of 700 odd open on the island running at 30%ish max capacity per hotel.Today there were 126 new cases within Greece and 216 yesterday. They know what they are doing....................I think.

Those numbers of hotels and capacities is good, as in SD should be easy. And if the cases are infections, not deaths, then its the same calculated gamble that all of Europe have taken. Gamble is probably too strong, but you will get the point.

Take care mate. Xx

Christ. Must be desperate for the tourist coin, understandably.

But its like saying the UK are focusing on a spread in schools, by closing them between 6 pm and 8 am.

They did something similar here. Restaurants have to close now to dine-in at 10 pm. Most people aren't going out to eat that time of night (usually when kitchen close in the US) and the restaurants were becoming de facto bars.

It seems, so far, that the restaurants (and the patrons) are doing things ok here. Booking only, 50% ish capacities, staff with masks, card payment only, that sort of small stuff, but all helps.

Not a clue how the city centre bars and that are at the weekends mind. Most likely a bit crap I would guess.

Just been talking to my sister in law who works in a care home they have just had tests for staff and patients 95 tests in all.
They have been told the whole batch is faulty so they don't know if they are positive or not.
They have been to wait a few weeks for more tests.
Why are sports people getting tests left right and centre yet care homes have to wait?

I just struggle to get why closing bars and clubs between midnight and 7 am is in any way nothing other than utterly pointless.

Closing between 7 pm and midnight makes sense, which I hope @marnie meant.
Yeah I think he meant they’ll close between midnight and 7am. Didn’t think that COVID was picky about what time it infects people.
Bit weird but hey

TAT have said that the borders for Thailand will not be opening again this year and likely to be closed until February/March :(

Am I missing sommet? What will that do to lower a spread? Unless Greeks and tourists usually go out between midnight and 7 am.

Most families ( possibly with the exception of the Greeks themselves who might only eat at 10'ish) be done and dusted eating and drinking wise by 11pm, and they'll almost all be doing that in a socially distanced kind of way.

Younger, single or coupled people will start off havibg something to eat, have a few drinks and then, between 11pm and about 4am, be going down the bars and clubs in the likes of Kardamaina, Malia and Faliraki, getting shitfaced where social distancing will go out of the window, possibly closely followed by their underwear !

Basically the Greeks are doing what we're doing. Pubs and bars are open, but clubs ain't.
