People are incredibly stupid.

So this hoarding of stuff, what are they doing it for exactly?

If things really hit the fan big time and we end up in some post apocalyptic world then you are going to have about a weeks worth more stuff than everyone else but you wont have anything to cook it with...

And people will just steal it anyway.

Why do people not go at night time? Why do they not go to their corner shop? (mine has an ample supply of bog roll).

Utter morons.

Got to laugh, some of the Mail reader types, who’d happily send asylum seekers back to their country of origin, to be tortured and executed are some of the people fighting over bog roll in Sainsbury’s lol

They would launch an old woman out the way to get the last roll the cretinous rats. Probably the same that would boycott Chinese restaurants as well

can’t wait till January when the ports go on lockdown with the of the transition period, the chaos will be on a whole new level

I’m bemused what the thing is with buying bog roll, cleaning the shelves out!! Why???

I think they’ve got confused between Coronavirus and Norovirus; it’s the only logical explanation I can think of

Not to downplay it, because that number's likely to increase significantly in the near future to three figures but, to put it into context, on average, about 1500 people will die each day in the UK.

Well that number doesn’t surprise me. In the context of a brand new virus growing that is scary.

All I can guess is that nobody could be bothered finding other methods of wiping it clean...

Pasta I kind of get. Last for ages and is versatile. I have seen people buying all the legs of lamb etc. Oh no the world is ending, lets have a roast!

Probably didnt' even get any mint sauce either. Idiots.

I think sometimes perspective is needed though - how many die per day of other illnesses?

Gotta be careful with statistics to not worry yourself sick.

I am aware of the scale of death world wide. I’m sure the daily number of people dying from laughing too hard is staggering world wide. But in the case of a brand new virus that’s growing you have to give that its own unique perspective.

Things here in the USA are gonna get very real, very fast in a economic and contagion sort of way. Lots of job-loss, lots of sickness, lots of death. Not looking forward to the upcoming weeks.

Not half as scary as it's likely to get to.

Do the maths, 70% of the population infected is about 40 million.
1% fatality rate would give 400k
Over, say, 12 months, that's over a thousand a day on average.

Fingers crossed, it won't get anywhere near that bad, but Italy's at more than 300.

Acute beds are near capacity already.

And as we are not testing every possible case, so yes be careful with statistics, deaths by this virus could also be higher, probably never know even near the exact number...

Italy is at 7% mortality rate and due to peak in July isn’t it? Look I’m not running around saying sorry to everybody I ever wronged and doing out a will. But it’s cause for concern.
