Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

That's the problem - the government would never release those figures, because it'd be a racists' paradise. So without clarity people only have circumstantial evidence and can therefore only speculate.

And when you 30 problem areas and apparently pretty much all of them are Asian communities, people are going to put one and one together and, honestly, on this occasion they're probably coming up with the correct answer.

Does it do any good? No, not really. As long as the authorities have the info and act on it without fear of being labelled racist then that's fine - we don't need to know.

Without the facts I think I’ll stick to my no-assumption feelings on this. I’ve seen more than enough evidence where I live and even Liverpool last weekend to suggest a whole host of people think this virus has disappeared.

So why not places in the midlands or down south that equally have huge asian populations?

Err, like Leicester and Luton who have both experienced spikes and are currently under restrictions.

The govt will apply restrictions based on data. The spikes are more likely to be seen in deprived areas, and they're also more likely to be seen in areas where there's more mixing amonst family units and friends. Simple demographics means that poor Asian communities are most vulnerable.

If people can't say that, then the world's gone mad. The way you say it is important, and there'll often be a racist undetone to how it's said which should be condemned, but to deny it is dangerous.

In the short term, the COVID issues need addressing, in the longer term, the poverty and deprivation issues need addressing, all over the country.

Yeh I know that ethnic minorities are having a harder time with this and like I said an assumption is fine but to me people need to be careful how they word things (crossed against their posting history too).

It's fair to at least ask the question as to whether it's certain communities causing more issues than others.

The truth is more important in containing this than being afraid of being painted as racist for simply investigating it. We already know the virus disproportionately affects certain ethnic groups after all.

I can't say for certain, but a fair few of those 30 areas have a relatively large Asian population right?

As if by clockwork the 'definitely just a rational non-racist' comes riding in

I think you need to stop being so wet. I've hardly said ethnic minorities deserve to get Covid etc, but they have to take some serious blame for the spikes in my area.

I have a high temp today and it’s rising still.
If COVID didn’t exist I’d say it was man flu, but even though I thought I’d had it at the start of the outbreak, I’ve not had antibody test and therefore it’s responsible for me to get tested.

Definitely get tested. I sat in on a lecture today with the infectious disease and critical care experts and they were reporting data that antibodies aren't sticking around. By 3 months I think they said, previously infected might again be susceptible.

Why isn’t the serious blame being levelled also at the white families having parties, sharing grandchildren, playing sports, ignoring social distancing when pissed?

Don’t know how scientifically true it was but saw a little interview with Cesc Fabregas before and he said his gran (or great gran) caught it twice.

oh there is that also..

The uk GOV has basically just blamed the muslim community for the spikes

Yeah...

As per usual, you have absolutely nothing in reply because you have absolutely no intelligence.

If you think I'm a racist, say it. If not, do one.

Oh gosh.

I am just curious about the people you often seem to jump to the defence of and those you choose not to.
