Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Because it isn’t fair. Why should people who have had a season ticket 20+ years miss out to someone who has had one for a season?

Because both will have paid for next seasons games ? Also, you didn't want anyone to go at all unless everyone could, but now you're throwing in the length of time someone's held a season ticket, so make your mind up !

If someone gets to go for the first game, then they wouldn't go into the next ballots until everyone's had a chance to attend, at which point you reset and start again. Or, as @roydo suggests, the club just pick seats for each game.

Either way, surely it's better to have the chance to go to around one in four games than just saying "Feck it, if we can't have everyone there, then keep the gates closed" which, frankly, is ludicrous.

If Coronavirus is still circulating, an awful lot of people will, regardless of official advice changing, make up their own minds.

Ignore the images and videos which make the headlines, the reality is more like :-

  • Shops re-open, but footfall and high street sales are still way down
  • Pubs and restaurants reopen - both are still deathly quiet in most places
  • Flights and foreign holidays are back on the agenda - very few people are bothering so far

So, going forward, we'll have offices re-opening, but lots of people will stick to working from home, or at least mix it up.

Stadiums will partially re-open, but some will still stay away.

Until people feel safe, rather than being told it's safe, large percentages of the population will play it safe. Eventually, most of us will get bored with playing it safe, and start to take risks, but I think we're some way off that point at the moment.
Did you get your degree in common sense mate?

I'm OK with us moving towards a position where individuals are free to choose.

I'm comfortable to go back to the office as soon as I'm allowed but its fine that others are not.

My only real concern right now is public transport. I'd drive rather than get the train or bus right now.
Curious as to why you would be comfortable being in an office but not on public transport?

I declare my hand in that I wouldn’t fancy being sat in either right now.

Would be sat a lot closer to people on the train or bus than at my desk. Have no control over who comes up very close to you on public transport
Still enclosed spaces though but I see your point.

Public sector in NI isn’t expecting people fully back in offices until January and I would imagine many private sector companies will be similar if home working can continue to be accommodated.

I gave you a reason why I thought it would be unfair.

If we all can’t go then a ballot should not be the alternative.

I have paid my season ticket money in the good faith that if games are allowed to go ahead I will be attending. Not the club picking and choosing which games I can attend.

Also, how does it work with family, friends, etc who want to attend together?

Trial it at concerts before the stadiums.

Especially when autopsies are indicating that covid is linked with blood clots throughout the body

Is not the same as the rash thing?

Rashes being pushed as part of the key symptoms yet when they tested people with rashes , only 3% more actually had the virus compared to who didn't.

Same as Kawasaki disease where over 50% didn't test positive yet it was attributed to it?

I'm a broken record but again it sounds like scare tactics over and over. If you can't scare people now then scare them for the future as well

I mean so many of these stories amount to nothing now.
